I heard this song one time on KZSC in the middle of the night, sometime back in the late 80's. It haunted my mind for years and I never knew who sang it. Then I heard it again and rushed to record it off the radio on a mixed cassette. So I had only the last third of it to listen to. No DJ's knew what I was talking about when I requested it. And I never heard it again until KZbin came along.

It truly is a beautiful age we live in. Used to be so hard to be obsessed with music, you had to know a guy who knew a guy and truly do some legwork to attain your fix. Now you type a sentence and you have 300 live performances and every remix ever created at your fingertips in seconds for free!

i like how it starts out like a song that would be annoyingly poppy and empty, yet it takes a turn for the darkest. wow, just wow.

This is a great song. Period. Great songs trannscend their era or any era and continue to live. There are plenty of immensely gifted and original musicians out there forming bands and I'm always happy to discover them. That doesn't lessen my reverence for the Chills and this song one tiny bit.

First heard this fantastic song about 20 years ago whilst driving down the M62 and drove straight to my local record shop and threatened the owner with violence unless he sold me the album. This is right up there with Dolores by Blind Mr Jones and Song to the Siren by Cocteau Twins. How did we get from this to the unmitigated dross served up to todays unlucky kids?

Love the sound first 20 seconds. Good song. Martin is about 24-25 years old in 1988. He has a good voice. Can someone state what pink frost is without guessing? I think this song was recorded in 1982. All the great music has already been made and was recorded 25-50 years ago and most of it is not heard on a wide scale basis anymore.

thanks for those song recommendations. and to answer your question: its because public schools censor kids, ratings distort what children can watch, and the wrong programs and books are advocated for. movies and books used to be made for adults, with a hint for kids... now theres so many genres that are fluffy and pure and unchallenging, not for kids-- the music they want is not melancholy but feel good... or rather, feel AMAZING.

Yeah awsome track'' I heard it when I visited New Zealand about 20 years ago' Call me pedantic but I think the keyboard in this live version should have been less melodic and more dark to suit the semi gothic nature of this track' Its a wonder a lot of bands haven,t tried to cover it" I wonder what it would sound like if Sisters of mercy did it''

I really don't agree with you about the todays unlucky kids. I won't try to compare "Pink Frost" which is a masterpiece with any other song, but listen to this ----> watch?v=TjL_uDP3YcQ&list=FLxkQQplfWOywqvLpeWHiHcg&index=3&feature=plcp OR this one ----> watch?v=PMku-GbafEg&list=FLxkQQplfWOywqvLpeWHiHcg&index=9&feature=plcp Just two songs I picked from my favorites. You might know them... There's really good music today, you just need to search more than 20 or 30 years ago.
