I've seen some of his videos now, and I'm not surprised many can't tell the difference, I'm just going to tell you, they aren't all from China. Also, this is not the only YT channel paid for these contents against China. I don't care nor picking a side, but US main media won't hesitate if these were true, except, if it isn't, there would be a huge monetary penalties with hundreds of court orders, so leaving small independent media do these, is actually common now.

Remember Chairman Mao? Here's what he did: - He renounced ancient chinese culture, including Confucius and Buddhism, which value kindness and tolerance. - He eliminated all intellectuals, land owners, rich and famous people. - He also told the youth to condemn their parents and neighbors publicly, usually in front of a crowd. - What he had left were uneducated laborers, poor peasants and mean youths. Those are the ancestors of the current mainland chinese today.

Sounds like what is happening in the West right now - renouncing of ancient western culture, including Christianity and Catholicism, which value kindness and helpfulness - dumbing down of the education system (including YEARS of school shut downs, the end of failing students who don't make the mark, and removal of learning goal expectations as a whole), attacks on farmers and their ability to make best use of their land, and glorification of useless online 'influencers'. - people have been turned against one another (the banning of family gatherings for YEARS, the encouragement for people to rat each other out if they, say, *go to the park* - stay home save lives, right? They created a social divide, encouraging hate for anyone who didn't get a booster-juice in the arm.) know what is happening at home before you go condemning your neighbour for doing the same thing.

As an American, this is true. But most of the hate comes from politicians, not average citizens. Politicians hate the average American citizen, so imagine the hatred they must have for the homeless. @@kcck7588 No way it only takes $20 billion. This is like that "it only costs $7 billion to end world hunger" statistic. Homelessness in the US is largely a mental illness and drug addiction problem, which is a super complex issue with no perfect solution. If it really was that easy, someone would fix it and enjoy the endless praise from the entire country that they would be showered with for fixing an issue as old as mankind.

@@leroyferguson809 The ECONOMY OF HOMELESSNESS? You mean the people who eat up resources without producing anything, trash public property, and steal from businesses to survive, are somehow creating a thriving ecosystem of wealth around them? Well damn, sign me up. Imma sit on my ass and do nothing for the next 45 years, you can give me food, water, shelter, education, and basic supplies and rake in the millions. Thats what the soup kitchens are doing I guess? You have to be legit insane to think rich people see homelessness as anything except a problem. And even if rich people were somehow making money off homeless people through magic or something, that still wouldn't explain why no politician would fix homelessness for a measly $20 billion. They would be praised for generations, and their career would be secured for as long as they wanted to stay in office. If a president fixed homelessness, they would get a basically guaranteed 2nd term unless they made some horrific mistake that overshadowed that. Biden has made budget plans for well over $1 trillion, so why would he not tack on a small $20 billion addition to erase homelessness from the US, and earn respect from all sides of the political spectrum?

I met some of these people in Thailand after COVID. There was a small group of Chinese who kept to themselves at our hostel. One day I overheard them in Chinese repeatedly talking about my country Mexico which got me to talk with them. They were quite happy to learn I could speak Chinese but more excited to learn I was from Mexico. They started asking me a bunch of questions about crossing the border into the US to which I bluntly told them I had no idea about and discouraged it. I asked where they got these crazy ideas from and they said that people were posting videos and tutorials of how to cross into the US online. The Chinese government hard handed approach to COVID was what made them leave. They wanted to go both for the freedom and economic benefits but they had a very naive and overly optimistic view of the US. They saw the high wages US workers were making but had no idea as to the incredibly high living costs associated with living there. I tried explaining that there was a housing shortage and that their expectations for life in the US would set them for disappointment but they either didn't believe me or brushed off my criticism. I also tried encouraging them to go to German or Australia instead (places which I feel would be better and easier for them to enter) but they seemed dead set on just going to the US. Unfortunately I don't know where they are now as Wechat is blindly and constantly blocking and deleting accounts in SE Asia without reason.........................

The factories that sprang up like weeds from foreign investment lifted a ton of people out of poverty, (often to the detriment to the middle class in europe and north america) It is sad that the money was sucked up into too few of people's pockets; and often sent with business owner's kids to foreign countries to go to university and buy homes... If the Chinese middle class was able to grow and flourish then China would have a more self sufficient economy with greater local consumption, so that even in this time when factories are moving to cheaper countries like in South East Asia the Chinese economy could be sustainable. I hope the chinese people see a bright future, they have come very far in just a few short decades.

I don't know why, but my wedding trip was... Shanghai. That was a pure nightmare. Our flights back were cancelled, without noticed because some fat Chinese guy was paying 5k yuans per passport, for "his" friends to be boarded instead of us. And it was pinned on US, "foreigners". Took us 3 weeks to be able to get back to France safely. Thankfully we had true Chinese friends... Otherwise we would have been left stranded. We had to pull strings, ask local friends to help us out. What I've learned is that people in the big cities are corrupted AF. People in mainland, as well as in Beijing, were SO sweet...

Interestingly most of your commentary pertaining to China can also apply to many other countries. Not least America... In fact, if you are any objective, you should do a series on American and the lives of the under privilege and poor in US. How the uncontrolled Drug problems have ravaged a generation of adults. Then do a comparison. China is by no means perfect, but so are many countries in the world. Since your wife is Chinese and from China and your child is half Chinese., you really own it to them and their relations to have a more balance view by report the pros and cons in every country.... The other surprise was when the sifu (kung fu master) learned I was a university educated electrical engineer, was the look of utter disdain on his face, as he realised I would be self sufficient, critical thinking, and immune to any attempts of manipulation.

And for China especially, it's a "double whammy" of inheriting the communist style corruption and fucked up authoritarian government from the USSR but then also slapping USA style capitalism on top of that, but without any of the government safety regulations or all that democracy stuff. So the government is not accountable for anything and cannot be voted out and all problems are swept under the rug and ignored until they blow up and the whole thing crumbles. We already saw a small preview of that with the Covid BS that the CCP tried to pull by hiding the problem until it started to kill everyone not only in China but around the world.

I am Chinese and in China NOW. I live in an ordinary city in Henan, central China. I testify that the situation here is worsening, economically and politically, at a speed I've never experienced. Many people lost their jobs, though I cannot give you numbers, but I can clearly feel it. A large portion of local factories and companies, including the one I worked for, have been and still are cutting down employee benefits since the midst of the pandemic. And if you walk around it's definitely not difficult to find shops and even entire malls that used to be popular and crowded are now closed. Another aspect, that communist ideology and mentality seep into people‘s minds in an all-round way. The education system, press, television, social media, and short video platforms, there is almost no escape. Growing up in a relatively relaxed political environment under the administration of Hu and Wen, I used to be believing that China was on the right track to democracy and rule of law, just like Taiwan did, and I was being part of it. But now, proved to be dreams, not real. Since the pandemic, I have been tormented by depression. I find it difficult to see goodness, and easily to be trapped in desperation to find back the not-too-good but hopeful days. Noticing the rights and freedoms in aspects of life are taken away day by day, little by little, yet people around me, friends, families, and even my parents don't share the same thoughts, they only listen to you talking about it at best. My mother always tells me, whenever I mention these subjects, not to speak about them in public or in front of strangers or in the workplace. I see this place of no hope. Maybe I'm a coward and am weak, I’m getting tired of struggling.
@smigleson
@smigleson 4 ай бұрын
Hey stranger, I'm from Brazil and i can't exactly offer much except sympathy and my shared faith that no matter how hopeless, when full chaos occurs there is always hope for being in the right place at the right time to find a way out of misery. It is hard to be alone, i understand that very well, most of my country people are illiterate. While i have learned not only portuguese but english and have been able to learn more about the world. I too have tried to find the truth no matter how bleak it was and have once thought that things would change for the better without going into full chaos. Most people still believe in climbing the economical ladder and that they will find some opportunity despite how reality hits all around them. What i mean to say is that i know that seeing the world the way it is makes you feel desperate because you end up facing the problems in a way that makes you rely only on yourself, and in turn makes talking with people meaningless or a chore. But there is hope for communion and a better day once it all falls apart if you manage to hold on long enough. Find enough of a will to push through the solitude. You are only alone for the moment, and although it has been years and it may still go on for a few more, it will not be your entire life. If you want to talk to me, feel free to do so. But don't give up now, please.

My father visited China in 1968 during Mao's repressions.This idiot Mao destroyed a mired of National Chinese Temples, historic buildings, Palaces that every region in China had, literary obliterating the history of Great China. People there went through unimaginable suffering during the WW1+ WW2 -nobody talks about that. China was "sold" to the Communist regime, it's aristocracy obliterated, history destroyed, people were rushed into communal living, had to march to work in the fields & factories. My father documented all that on a photo camera but it was destroyed by the Chinese authorities at the border. All my dad did was a journal in Bulgarian language describing what he saw in his business travel (he was a representative of BG fork lift industry & was helping to build a Chinese forklifts factory there). Bulgaria at this time was a Communist country & only tech support from SSSR and Bulgaria were allowed to enter China back then, it was a closed country.

I totally agree. All I hear today is how great India will become, with a powerful armed force, great space program, modern infrastructure and telling the west to FO, without realizing that without the West India could not have achieved many of those successes. If you disagree you are mocked by the pro Nationalists and their media. Sounds very like China.

Nothing can ever be perfect. But honesty can at least highlight such things as can be made a little better. As long as no bastard is forcing their own idea of "better" on others then we have a chance of fixing the overall situation a bit. Over here in Aus things are pretty good really, but going downhill a notch every time our political betters try to fix us, the ordinary people. Making "the system" better only ever happens when people fix themselves. Fixing others is never help, it's only ever meddling. I don't know if you are the biker type, but India's motorcycle manufacture standards seem to have come a long way since I bought my first brand new vehicle, an Enfield 500 Bullet back in 1995. If I ever get cashed up again I'm gunna buy another Enny. THAT is deffo the kind of betterment I can get behind.

Hi serpentza. I don't often comment on the range of China posts across KZbin, mainly because I don't like giving credence to many of the YTubers who obviously enjoy making a buck out of the all too real tragedy that is the China people; you know the sort; poorly AI driven, poorly robot narrated, poorly hashed together. This time I must make an exception. Notwithstanding your perfect candour, it is very clear how much this "stuff" matters to you. It is very clear that you have a deep, genuine compassion for these guys, and how the obscenities of the CCP move you to continue to educate the rest of us lucky ones and give voice to the Chinese who the CCP would rather just went the fcuk away after exacting every last harvest they can. Your work, the reasons you do it, and the results I hope it achieves are truly commendable. I know some of what you have to see sticks right in your craw, but keep going. It matters.

Another problem is as a citizen of china, you aren't allowed to own land, but you can own the property residing on the land (for up to 70 years lease). Families pool their money together and buy in the USA. This has had a profound effect on the housing market in the USA. New construction properties in NY are being bought out before even breaking ground, tiny 2-bedroom condos selling for 1million+, etc.

There is a kind of hierarchy in the Chinese society and as long as there is someone below you whom you can mistreat and exploit, the upper folks down rebel bit take part of it. There is no idea like humanity or Christianity. You care about your friends and your family, but everyone else is irrelevant.
