I think the Chinese were given 300 + acres. They are buildings a community for themselves. I bet no black Jamaican will be able to move in that community. I live in NY for 40 years, and almost all the market, especially in the Bronx that sells West Indian fruits and food products, are Chinese owned. They will mostly hire Mexican to work in there than blacks. The majority of the customers are Jamaican. We spend so much money every week buying from them. Now to all those who are afraid to travel to Ja that's their perogative. I know that I'm trying to secure something for my sons and grandchildren. The American born young people in my family have gotten their Jamaican citizenship and JA passport based on the fact that we, their parents and grandparents, are Jamaican. I'm not going to let people from all over the world come invest in my born country and I sit one side. We're running out while the world is running in. If in the future some people want to go home, they will not be able to afford it.

I was born in rural Clarendon in one of the highest peeks. My mom had to stay in the hospital when I was a new born in the 60s . I was kept at home. It was my uncle's Chinese wife who took care of me. Her father was born in China but he went to Panama from China then to Jamaica. She was born in Panama. I still don't know how he found his way to the area I was born because it's so rural but thanks to him my uncle found a wife and I got a care taker and the community had basic supplies. Her dad was a shop keeper. Everyone has their purpose and making a contribution to this world. Jamaicans don't have to work for Chinese if they don't want to. Were they working before the Chinese open a store? I doubt it. The Chinese and their employees seems to have a collaboration that's working for them. People are assuming they aren't paid well. If they not braking the minimum wage laws then what's the problem. They can't pay below minimum wage. They aren't breaking any laws. Every garment, appliances and medical supplies are made in China. China is the world's manufacturers of goods. There is not a nation or persons on earth who isn't dependent on China. Just check your labels.

Chinese been in Jamaica for over a hundred years. There are Chinese Jamaicans. I think the issue is, Jamaicans don't really support each other. What would happen if five Jamaicans get together to build and operate a supermarket. You would hear that 2 of the people bodies are found in the cane field. You can finish the story. The Chinese started off selling in little huts in rural areas after they left the plantations where they were taken to work after slavery was abolished. They worked hard and progressed to big supermarkets etc. All the others have done is sit back and be hateful bullies towards them and their success, instead of going out there and doing something for themselves. They prefer to always play the victim and blame those who look different to them! Those of African origin are no more entitled to be Jamaicans because they’re in the majority. All Jamaicans were taken there by the European settlers who inhabited the island after the indigenous Taino Indians. The only difference is most of the blacks like to bully others and not do much else.

As a Jamaican, you must look at the political agenda, if the Jamaican government receives taxes from all of the Chinese businesses on the island and employ Jamaicans don't blame them, they are doing what the jamaican government government and the Jamaicans with business acumen should be doing. I am a jamaican and I think if Britain and America was doing nothing for Jamaica for four hundred years, now China is doing outward investment all over the world and it's good that Jamaica is getting this also. We must first get our house in order. Do things for ourselves, law and order, stop corruption. Tell America and Britain to get lost they are not helping us to build infrastructures, only prisons.
