They used to use mercury cathodes in this process then pump rhe mercury to a clean water pool to make NaOH and hydrogen. Another one was to then bubble the chlorine into the NaOH to make NaOCl or bleach 🤓

we are produce chlorine gas in membrane electrolysis, but in depleted brine is strong acid ,why produce acidic solution?

very highly specialized; the anode is typically a titanium metal substrate with RuO2 or IrO2 mixed with TiO2; the cathode can be Pt, steel, or nickel
