The Chosen: Jesus is Arrested

Season 2: Episode 7. Clip where Jesus is arrested.
I had put this together for my small group at church, but have noticed more interest in it lately. This is a really important clip with a non-scriptural based arrest of Jesus for questioning. The disciples really struggled with their reactions and their 'waiting.' There is in-fighting, blame shifting, anger, outbursts, seizing control, scheming. Even though it’s not in the Bible, i love it. It shows us how chaotic and unfocused the disciples become without Jesus, the one thing holding them together. It’s shown how they all argue over various things but are united by their love for Jesus

In this day and age people reject the Word so the Holy Spirit of Jesus uses other means to reach people. God works in all things but you wont be able to see it unless you open and widen your mind heart and spirit to His teaching.

The context is fairly simple. A show depicting the life of Christ (a 2nd commandment violation) has chosen to fabricate details of His life and teaching (a Revalation 22:18 problem).

@@jessimms3316 I agree, every portrayal of Christ in film has been wrong. The chosen is getting the attention now because becaise it is the latest in this trend. I cant speak for the outcry about the Passion of the Christ, as I was a 12 year old christian-in-name-only at the time of it's peak. Yes, we all have broken the law and need the grace brought to us by Christ. But if we love Him, should we want to break His commands? I dont keep away from the Chosen to be more righetous or because I think that will save me. I do so because I want to be more like the One who saved me; submitting to the will of God. And I've found that we are commanded to keep from certain things not to kill our fun, but to protect us. Why is it ok to ignore a command of God, but it is unacceptable to question the unbiblical work of man? Why is it that, even in Christian institutions, believes are vastly more passionate about defending a TV show than they are about reaching lost souls with the actual, true word of God?

In the end, the disagreement about this pales in comparison to what's been happening out there. I found that believers who rag on the Chosen have shallow disagreements over Bible translations or pretty much focus on the pettiness of the Catholic/Protestant divide.

This hasn't led people to worship Jonathan Roumie (the actor portraying Jesus) nor is there any evidence the show is trying to replace the whole Bible. I agree they leave out certain events from the Gospels and add lines (which is what happens in any sort of adaptation of a book into visual format) but this is just legalistic thinking by calling it blasphemous. What different teachings are being espoused? Many are being drawn into the Bible and rightly so.
