Funny thing is my friend AJ Rivera (who is also a producer) lived in Santa Fe Texas, he said he would run into Kevmo at McDonald's. I was chilling with AJ one day afew years back and went to McDonald's with AJ to make beats. And oddly enough some guy (might have been, probably was Kevmo) noticed AJ and myself on our laptops/tablets making beats, he talked to me about our beats and Christian Rap, I think it was Kevmo (and because he had already kinda knew AJ). He was introduced to me and thought it was cool that we were making beats at McDonald's and encouraged us to keep going. He also mentioned he met Lecrae before and that we would probably be hearing about his music/beats soon. My friend AJ lives in Alvin Texas now. Plus there's my friend Joe Angel Music. I could see both of them, and maybe even myself working with Kevmo if he comes back to music. Houston Christian Rap is on the rise. Letz Chop It Up podcast interviewing guest rappers and having interesting convos plus our city having NGEN Radio are 2 of the things God is using to bring the Christian Rap community together in Houston.

I think foggieraw is like a introduction or bridge in a way. Good vibe, good overarching message and he makes music with people that could be exposing more of a gospel centered music veiw. But in that interview with ruslan where ruslan suggested that foggieraw also put out clean versions, I thought that was a good idea. But you don't have to use swear words to curse somebody out and there are too many christians guilty of that as well.

I think it depends on what your assignment is. For some people a Christian not swearing makes the Christian unrelatable, higher, they think we think that we're better than them. I know I personally get made fun of a lot for not swearing in football, but my assignment is one where I feel like I need to hold my tongue more tightly so that my fellow Christians can trust me. For those people who swear though a Christian swearing is going to completely shift their idea of Christianity and make them more open to the idea of it. Some of these people out here are never gonna listen to someone like Hulvey, but the will listen to someone like Foggieraw, but someone like Hulvey is very important because he gives us a very pure connection to the father in his music. Foggie and Hulvey just have different God-given assignments. We just need to be aware of what our specific assignment is and conduct ourselves in a way that we are able to complete that assignment.

There’s no such thing as people having different God assignments like froggieraw does. Jesus said to not be like the world , to love the world, or do anything that involves being influenced by sin. I’m not one of those Believers who are hollier then thou,but I know what God states in his word & how God DOES NOT TOLERATE evil speech. Every lose word that’s spoken will be given an account for on judgement day bro.

@@James_follows_Christ I agree but I think with swearing its a bit different. The Bible says not to use foul language, but what is considered foul differs between the people and cultures you interact with. Keeping that in mind with the fact that while still being apart from the world, we must inter into it to minister to people, I think that with swearing if you are around people that are not offended by those words, then they become no longer foul or evil and just words. For Christians from a rougher background whose vocabulary heavily consists of swearing, I think it's not terrible for them to maintain some of that vocabulary so long as its in the right setting and the rest of their life is being transformed. Remember the goal here is to save souls, we can't do that if we're gate keeping because people's speech is too rough around the edges for us, in the long run God sees our hearts. And its 100% true that different Christians have different assignments, some people are meant to be pastors, some rappers, some writers, some cops, some pizza delivery guys, but no matter where God puts you you need to be serving him in that space.

@Caleb Wolfenbarger young bro someone is deceiving you or you’re deceiving yourself bro. It doesn’t matter what I think bro. What you think. Or what any else thinks. It’s what GOD STANDS on. If God says to keep ALL lost words out of your mouth he means business bro. That goes for me, you, and every single person in this world. Whoever acts upon what God hates and still says they’re his child they’re on fooling their self because they aren’t fooling God bro.

@@James_follows_Christ As I said, I don't swear myself, I'm just saying I don't think its something to be holding with such a tight fist. I think it's one of those things thats more trivial. The only reason we take it so seriously is because we've been taught that those words are so evil, but for most lost people they don't have really any negative connotation at all. So then if the person you are talking with does not hold the swear word in a foul or evil light, then is saying that word still foul or evil? I don't know, I can't answer that question myself but I think it is a question that needs to be asked. Sin comes from the Hebrew word Khata, which means to fail. When Khata is used in the Hebrew Bible it is used to refer to failing to love God and love others. Therefore, sin is not a success at doing evil, but a failure at doing good, a failure to love. Swearing, atleast in my mind, would be sinful then because you are failing to love people by offending them with the use of swear words. That again raises my question as to if you're in a space devoid of that negative connotation of the word, is it still a swear word, is it still sinful?
@James_follows_Christ
@James_follows_Christ 3 жыл бұрын
@Caleb Wolfenbarger yea bro I understand. If you’re coming to Christ and still asking God through Jesus to help you to stop swearing. As me for example bro when I came to Christ in the beginning of 2020 I had a trail with swearing & listening to secular music. I eventually gave up the type of music that dealt with swearing & started seeking the Lord to form me into his son & the cursing stopped bro. My thing is cursing is wrong in general. *Ephesians 4:29: “ Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouth’s,but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that is may give grace to those who hear.” < corrupt talk goes along with cursing as a whole bro. I don’t care how talented anyone is if they fit and say they’re a child of God and talking evil speech in their music then I’m not listening to it. Jesus wants us to be careful what we listen to bro. If Jesus was next to a person & that person had this young man’s froggieraw music turned up next to he/she listening to froggieraw & Jesus heard cursing you think he’d approve of it? Again bro. We’re going to get judged for everything. Bro imagine being an artist saying you represent Christ uses cursing in their songs , goes home, prays for repentance, and the next day goes back to the studio and does the same thing all over again with swearing. People have told this young man about his cursing,but he doesn’t see that it’s wrong and many others as well. All I’m saying bro is to please be careful with what you listen to. Not everyone who says Lord Lord will make it into Heaven bro you know.

The bible does say that we shouldn't curse and it took me a while to finally stop so I'm a little more graceful when it comes to other christians cursing cause they might be trying and things are slipping out. But when you write music. Youre intentionally throwing curse words in there. Well the Bible says a man who calls himself religious but does not bridle his tongue deceives his own self james 1:26 The Bible also says evil communication corrupts good manners 1 Corinthians 15:33 Also Jesus used Peter although he was a hot head and cursed also, and also told Peter upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail. The Bible also says there is a way that seems right to a man but the end leads to destruction. Foul language by any means is not ok. People are scared to call a spade a spade. We all need help we are not perfect, pray he gets delivers, and appreciate what he is doing for Christ... God can use any of us, but also God is the only one who can fire us and still use us to preach His word! I pray he is careful not to be used of God but God says depart from me. I also pray the same for myself. Bottom line God judges the heart, But he also calls us to uphold a holy standard before the people of the world, He wants us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds in Christ Jesus, not conformed to the world and looking like the world.

People do not take Jesus words serious as all. People are shifting the gospel music and turning into money, fame scheme rather then actually SERVING THE KING. I stand on God’s word bro. I don’t care how talented a person is. A person can be labeled as a Christian artist and rap all day about God,but their hearts are far from the Lord. Or a Christian rapper can curse in their music and SOME people feel that it’s ok. What does God says being judge for every lose word? Just because something looks and sounds good doesn’t mean it is. the more God opened my eyes and ears the more I realized that what you listen to & watch is important. @@H0LYBL0CKChosen In any believers eyes we should see sin is sin. It’s all wrong in the eyes of the LORD. Whether swearing in music or even mentioning something such as crude jokes. If GOD doesn’t use any type bad language and says every idol word that’s spoken will be judged why should we water it down ? Condemning is way different from striving to warming others in love of the dangerous of being lukewarm. Of course we’re as believers are gonna fall short because who’s righteous aside from Christ completely? Not one of us that’s why we need Jesus as our leader individually and coming together as one as the body ,but when we know better we gotta strive to do better and learn from what we once did out of ignorance. It’s one thing if a person just gave their life to Christ and it’s another thing when a person been walking with GOD and it’s been 3 years for example , and still at the same state they were once in when first came to Christ. We gotta grow; the LORD desire for us to not state of babies in the faith,but mature. You got people using the name Christ as well for fame . They maybe started right walking with the LORD ,but sadly got blinded by the world’s approval and went astray or people who just don’t know Christ and use HIS name for fame. That ain’t right at all. I’m not saying to be overly religious and act like an artist has it only mention only bible scriptures in every song. For sure have 💯 fun with the song as long as it’s not going against GOD’S word. I think by cursing in your music and putting it out there, you are elevating The word rather than elevating the fact that you were imperfect. It’s OK to be a Christian who struggles with cursing, or on the contrary grown up in that environment, but it’s all about bringing up each other in Christ. By cursing, it causes a lot of controversy, and causes people to stumble. Any behavior that causes an individual to stumble is a sin. That goes for clothing, what you do, what you say, who are you associate yourself with. There’s a difference between ministering to those who are broken, and being of them who are broken. I would rather stay away from it altogether.

Word to John Keith for taking such a strong stance against useless profanity that may turn others away from God. If such a thing happens, we must attempt to fix that situation. We have then become a stumbling block. But I personally wouldn’t judge anyone who does though. That’s not the position I’m afforded as a fellow believer. The Bible says to work out your own salvation and that we are not to curse one another. I’m against cursing in general because of my brothers and sisters who are stumbled by it. So I practice avoiding it in general so it doesn’t happen even accidentally. Those judging him must also be careful. Anything that causes someone to turn away from God is considered a stumbling block. ANYTHING! Including personal perspectives on cursing.

@@justin8006 yeah, he drifted pretty far from this position in recent times. That’s one thing I dislike about believers in the industry, they’re quick to switch positions to fit in - because several artists are cursing and using the n-word in their music. My own stance has changed as well. It shouldn’t happen in gospel rap, nor should it be done publicly by a believer who is exposed to many believers. I still don’t think it’s a sin, but it’s clearly a stumbling block within the body and should be kept private. Unfortunately, with social media making private lives public, it’s a pipe dream at this point. Influencers are pushing for us to become used to hearing and using profanities. One pastor even claimed God told him to start cursing - which I highly doubt.

Life & death is in the power of the tongue" "let your words be seasoned with grace". When you send out these words, there's a SPIRIT & LIFE within them that will either plant evil and destruction. Wherever those are, spirits will encircle them and create strongholds. It also tells other Christians, I only need to be sanctified "this much". Do you think that people who swear, or influence people in a way that is not good, will not answer to God for that? The words are diberate. This is why many people don't take the Gospel seriously because it's watered down. God says our works will be tried by fire. Just how quickly will those words be burned up? You think the HOLY SPIRIT can annoint those words? If we are to be followers of Christ, name ONE time Christ cursed? He was perfect in all his ways. "Thou headrest me because I always do those things that please you". We can go back to the Old Testament to see, "thou shall not take the name of the Lord in vain". God created the world with words...what kind of "spiritual world" are you creating with yours? I'll leave things there.

If it doesn't line up with the word aka the Bible don't do it as part of your ministry. Keep your opinion/experience, or as they say nowadays"Your truth" to your self. It has nothing to do with *The Truth*
@calebwolfenbarger5947
@calebwolfenbarger5947 3 жыл бұрын
That is true, but often times I think we mistake our truth for the truth. Because people will say their opinion and then say "you can't argue with THE TRUTH." We have to acknowledge what is our core values and what are peripheral things that are up for debate, and not get so mad when those peripheral things are disagreed upon. Core beliefs would include that we're all image bearers of God that have been stained by sin, that we all need Jesus and are unable to get into heaven on our own, that Jesus was the perfect son of God born of the virgin marry who died and rose on the 3rd day, that the only way to be forgiven is by repenting of your sins and asking Jesus for forgiveness, and that we are to love others with the same sacrificial love as Christ and disciple them to the faith. Those are the core values, any other issues, such as what words are and are not sinful, are peripheral issues that can be debated. Issues that need to be debated with the love of Christ, after all, Jesus regularly hung out with the tax collectors and sinners, and loved them, so who are we to ostracize people for their opinions on those peripheral issues if Jesus went so far as to include people much much worse than them? Matter of fact, I think we need to welcome those discussions because whenever someone has a disagreement about a peripheral doctrine and the way its being interpreted that means that they are taking their faith into their own hands and genuinely exploring the Bible and all of its implications, so instead of hating people for that deviance from trivial peripheral issues, we need to fan that spark into a flame and welcome those debates. When you listen to Foggie's music or his interviews you can tell that there is an immaturity there that embraces carnality and doesn't plan on growing up anytime soon. Just read his tweet @6:09. God says examine the fruit and follow those who follow me, (e.g. Paul said follow me as I follow Christ). Foggei says examine the fruit and follow those who are Luke warm. Now read Revelation 3:15. His message is antithetical to the Gospel. Do you not discern from the Bible that one of the main ways the enemy attacks the Church is from within the church? If Foggie (and those like him) are discouraging young minds in the church from modeling after those who are serious about their walk, and instead are encouraging them to follow those who's fruit suggests that they have other gods, how does one compare that to Bizzle using the word Hella....🤔. Satan will do anything he can to deceive you and mislead you to keep you apart from God!

Can you name some of the verses that you say mention how not to speak?

@@Sehon13Ultd Ephesians 4:29 ESV Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 5:4 ESV Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. Matthew 12:37 ESV For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” James 1:26 ESV If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless. Proverbs 15:28 ESV The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things. Shall I go on?

My thing is this, if we are in our flesh or struggling… just say that. I can respect that. I too believe wholeheartedly in Christ but when it comes to being in a position of leadership where souls are being lead astray that’s a problem when we are using skills God gave us to be too lax w His word. Foggie is my favorite rapper but just say ur a rapper. Leave Christ out of it. Rap, be 🔥, be true to any historic data to rap about and let’s not compromise. If we do, let’s repent and seek Him. I fall too but never do I want to stay down. With love ❤ respectfully
