My childhood memories are playing monopoly with my grandparents. Trying to get through Blackpool illuminations but the car always breaking down. Having all the family at my grandparents for new years day with a buffet and playing games. Decorating the Christmas cakes my grandma had made as gifts for her friends. making xmas decorations for my grandmas window. My grandma did alot for me growing up.

Amazing Gem, spot on, that's just how I'm feeling. And your final question about what I remember most about last christmas brought it all home. It was the last christmas with my lovely Dad. My husband cooked so I could enjoy time with my dad as we thought it would be his last, and we lost him in March. That's what christmas is about - spending time with the people you love.❤

Christmas Itch is absolutely a thing. I'm generally a conscious buyer & yesterday I found myself on a cheap website looking at plastic that! Managed to step away. Phew. Feeling slightly & appropriately, called out all the same. 😂 For me it's the privilege & the responsibility of being the magic maker of the family.

Gemma, Organised Christmas has been an absolute game changer for me! I’m now famous at my work (teacher) for my Christmas spreadsheet, which has my budget, gift list, calendar and of course the TOMM O.C. checklist! A few have asked me to send it to them so they can be just as organised 😂

I remember a few years ago seeing an ad for (possibly Boots or Superdrug). It showed a teenage boy buying a OralB electric toothbrush (probably about £50) for his favourite teacher and leaving it anonymously on his doorstep... Absolutely ludicrous. 😂

Thanks for this, the Christmas itch was starting to hit bad. I know I’ve bought more than enough gifts but the unease and worry that I’ve missed the opportunity to get the perfect present for my girls was growing and this video has walked me back from the random shopping cliff edge.

Of course the irony is that it was interrupted on you tube by the exact adverts you are describing!

I wondered what this itchy feeling was. I’m usually really stressed and wrapping things at last minute worrying that things aren’t enough, and then realising that I’ve actually over spent because I started shopping early and forgot the things I’d previously bought. I know use the free Christmas gift list app and it’s saved me this year. You can put it an overall budget, the names of all the people you buy for, set individual budgets for each person. Then you can add gift ideas and prices, then go through selections like idea, purchased, arrived and wrapped so you have a list of everything you’ve bought, everything left to buy, what’s wrapped and ready, and it reminds you what you’ve already bought when your still seeing nice things in the store, so you don’t overbuy.

This is the first of your videos I have watched. I completely resonate with the idea of the Christmas Itch. Every year my husband and I get all the gifts out of their hiding places in the wardrobes, lay them out by person, and then panic-buy extra stuff. I absolutely refuse to do it this year. My oldest children are adults now and they've begged me to just buy them one thing each, which I have. I'm definitely going to go and check out your back catalogue as I agree with everything you're saying. Just to let you know that your audio is quite jumpy. Some of your words are getting chopped off. Hope you have a lovely (or just perfectly fine) Christmas!!

This is the first year I’ve stopped myself too. Years ago we literally exchanged one or two gifts with people and we definitely need to get back to that.

Brilliant video! 👏 I can relate. Each year I try to do better. It is, after all, really just one day! The poor folk that have to work in retail as well 😢. I remember hearing someone say..."it's a roast with a cracker!"😅 We're having Sushi on Christmas Day ! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

You are so right Gemma! Marketing has us by the emotional reins and until we realise everything you have said here we’re are just on the Christmas conveyor belt of consumerism!!! 🎉 Have a good one! X
