I could draw uninhibited with that "new-fangled" grip. Most artists use a variety of grips to begin with, no not like the one he has but I've seen stranger habits. Not saying it's a good practice but it's not necessarily bad. I had the catholic school cursive writing experience yet still use a less typical grip, 2nd most common. Rest the pen on my ring finger as opposed to the middle finger. However if I was standing, which I would do for a more technical drawing, I'd brandish it like a brush just as Chris Chan would be forced to. He'd probably get tired and sit down though.

He spent 5 minutes to draw that Sonichu. It reminds me that Chris said it takes him at most an hour to draw the comics and half an hour to color it. And yet, he would take months or even years to finish a comic. If he actually drew a page a day, he would have so many comic books out. I’m a very poor drawer, as in if you told me to draw Sonichu from scratch, no, it would not be nice. I’ve done drawings for my kids school projects, but I’ve also used reference photos and a lot of swear words. However, I could draw a realistic car engine completely freehand and without reference. Also when I was renovating my house and working with builders, I found I could easily illustrate how I wanted to have a particular section built etc, matter of fact, the front verandah that I designed was one of the best the builder had ever seen, he said it’s strong enough to park a Mack truck on and will be there for easily 100 years, and I have little to no house building or designing experience. Its weird like that.

@@thesausage351I love drawing anime the most. Hey my art isn't that amazing but I still take my time and effort to do as best as I can and learn from my mistakes and new techniques. Sometimes 5 hours a day if I'm lucky because I live with my gf. Plus I'm a working man. I def have less time than Chris ever had. But patience in any practice/hobby etc. Requires so much damn patience. If Chris was down to earth and would aim to do better. Even with his autism he would reach cloud nine as an artist. How I had it fixed in school was the good ol' Elastic Band method! Basically you hold the pencil like how you normally would, but an elastic is wrapped around your hand to keep it in that position, and then you would write letters over and over to train your hand to stay like that when writing! Absolutely HATED doing it as a kid, but now I write completely fine thanks to this and the help I got in school! 🌟 It really is a shame that Chris didn't get the help that he desperately needed though. 😔

Look at the way he’s holding the pen!! Absolutely bonkers. No wonder the drawings come out like that! Bloody dingdongs

Watching the way Chris holds his pen makes me want to break all his fingers

I’ve tried to draw like this on some occasions and my hand will physically not let me do it.

If he didn't have sex on his mind all the time, he would have turned out all right.

Holy hell, the way he hold is pencil... It looks uncomfortable!

The autism is making him do that.

Okay? I have autism too (high-functioning). So what’s his excuse? Did their parents spoil him too much?

Seeing the process explains why his art looks like it does. Just goes in with a pen, no planning, takes one pass at each line and boom he's done.
Terrible art is forgiving if the artist at least acknowledges it. Unfortunately, Chris isn't one of them.

As an artist, i get anxiety from watching this... Yet I keep looking at this. Why is he holding the pen like that? WHY is he using a pen to begin with??

he STILL holds his pencil like that. I've never seen more terrible form. Go figure his drawings are so shaky.
