I also absolutely loved Edmund in this movie. It was super nice to see the character development he got in the first movie persist into the second one.

Loved how they did the sequel, and I agree that it needed some extra punch compared to the book. Personally I enjoyed the third movie. I won’t give details in case you decide to watch it. 😊 Most depressing part of this movie, aside from the Narnians getting trapped and slaughtered by the Telmarines, was when they left beautiful Narnia for the bleak real world.

13:12 I think it's because when they left Narnia they were the only humans there and in the books the dwarves are Narnians and because narnia belongs to the narnians the kids deduced that the dwarf was good.

I really like this movie, at the time, Narnia fans were upset that so much had been changed from the book, but I personally feel it really needed some extra punch. The book is good, don’t get me wrong, but a lot of the extra parts in the book would not have translated well to film. Peter was also given much more of a character arc which was somewhat lacking in the first film. Aslan, once again being Leonin Jesus didn’t rush in to save the kids because they had to learn the humility necessary to follow his footsteps seemingly in defiance of logic. The third movie is… not too good. In fact, it’s just bad in my humble opinion. The book it’s based on is one of my favorites as it’s a road trip story, just a jaunt through areas of Narnia’s world we hadn’t seen before with a loose narrative and more about experiencing new things. The movie tries to give these events a narrative purpose, and it just doesn’t work. I wish someone would adapt The Silver Chair, it goes in hard on a lot of the points you made in this video: Lewis, being an educator himself, could see how Academia and the education system was being used to attack faith and culture, and he really went hard on the universal nature of themes in literature, and how education systems can work like a narcotic to eradicate imagination, free thinking, and faith.

Dawn Treader was always the book I felt wouldn't work as a movie because it doesn't have much of a plot. So I understand them making changes for the movie, but I also feel the changes were made pretty clumsily. Personally, I really want a Horse and His Boy or Magician's Nephew movie someday. Those are my favorites of the books, and I feel like they'd work well as films (with a few tweaks)

You make jokes… but Rowling based the Hogwarts houses on these four characters. :D

Yo REALLY??? 😱 oh let me take a crack at it, lmk how many I get right, so Susan has to be Ravenclaw, cuz they can’t let a “she’s smart” moment go, they have to mention it. Peter maybe Gryffindor cuz High King “Magnificent One’ and also has Lion on his shield 🛡️ Griffin is half lion half eagle or whatever, Edmund has to be Slytherin cuz Lucy can’t be Slytherin and Edmund was kind of bad in the first one so Edmund Slytherin and Lucy Hufflepuff… ie useless just running around with a bottle of juice 😭 omg I hate myself, Imma stop this Hufflepuff hate.

@@AffanReacts well, Rowling has never outright admitted it… but it makes a lot of sense. She’s always shown great inspiration from both Tolkien and Lewis… but as far as assigning them, you seem to be right. Even the colors they are given (in the books and in the first movie) match HP. There’s even a scene early in the first book where the four children are guessing what animals they might see when they get to the countryside. Peter says a lot of things, but Lucy suggests Badgers (Hufflepuff’s animal) and Edmund suggests Snakes (Slytherin). But with Peter being high king and with Aslan a Lion, and a lion being the symbol of Gryffindor… it all kinda falls into place. (Sidenote, I just spent a couple months near the Caspian Sea… and met a few people names Aslan or similar, and learned that in Turkish, Aslan means Lion. I think you mentioned about this in the first movie, but I only just learned…) FYI, I’m not Hufflepuff… but the strongest attributes tend to be loyalty and patience toward others, but urgency to act.

Yeah a lot of the new fantasy writers are inspired by Tolkien and Lewis now I am learning. I knew George R. R. Martin was directly inspired by Tolkien. Ah okay, it would be kind of nice if they can like do a cross between the universes… imagine that. Yeah, there are two versions of that name, Aslan/Arsalan, both means lion or brave like a lion. The names are found in Turkish, Arab, Persian, Indian/Pakistan/Bangladesh cultures. The last three used to be the same country so they are very similar.

@@AffanReacts oh, interesting. The third movie for Narnia is definitely not as “fun” as the others. But it has a great new character… my favorite in fact. Even if you don’t watch it for the channel, it’s still something you might find interesting.
