@Dalton Long I think the first film clearly establishes that he does care about some people, at least. He expresses grief and remorse. "Not for me! Not for me!" It seems clear to me that was when something shook loose in him. He visits the Imam, and is clearly emotionally wracked when Kyra dies in this scene. Sociopaths don't do that. I love how when Lord Marshall Zhylaw realized that he was going to die either way (you can see it on his faces at 0:14 and 0:17) - he realized that either would "keep what they kill", and inherit the Necromonger Empire. You can also see it in his face in 0:22 that he was angry at Vaako as he was a traitorous usurper (treason), and chose to get headstabbed and kneefaced by (the somewhat more honorable) Riddick instead. He chose to die at the hands of Riddick over Vaako as he deemed that Riddick is more worthy of it than Vaako is. But that's just what I think :)

riddick franchise will always hold a special place in my heart. it was my mom (and me) fav after we first watched pitch black. and i become vin diesel fan since pitch black. my mom love pitch black n riddick character so much that we nvr change the channel everytime the movies air in cable. i rmmbr my mom laugh so hard at this scene when he sit to mourn but end up become a new king and riddick (3rd movies) is the first movies i take my nephew to movies theather to watch it only to find out its R XDD (we still watch em somehow). now my mom 82 years old suffer from dimentia who cant rmmbr who i am from time to time and become a complete diff person. i watch all riddick movies to rmmbr the good memory we used to have. it still bring smile to us. i hope this franchise cont on. (the fact that i just learn vin diesel agree to be in f&f franchise just to buy the right for this franchise and character give me another respect for him)

Call me crazy, But, "What If" Riddick is a time shifted Conan in order to complete the trilogy with Conan fulfilling his movie narrators' final words, {as said by Mako R.I.P.} "Many wars and feuds did {he} fight, and in time, became a king by his own hand, and wore his crown upon a troubled brow.......but that is another story". If so then "Pitch Black" is the story that gives sustenance to the similarities of the two "Hero's".

The reason he started caring because they knew he was a killer and still saw him as one of them in pitch black, Jack basically had a crush on him the black guy even if he was a son of God he became friends with a dangerous killer and the female captain in pick black felt he was worth dieing for.

When I went to watch this movie at the theatre I thought it was badass how Riddick mourns Kira's death but at the same time assumes his new found leadership over the Necros.

And from that point forward, throughout the rest of time, whenever men rode forth to battle for good cause or for evil, they did so under the watchful eye of the man who had defeated a god. They were driven forward by Riddick , the mortal who had become the new, God of War...

Please explain. I don't know D&D that much. Other than it's fantasy game where you pretty much create everything. So, not sure where it points directly to D&D.
