Thank you so much for posting this. Frank Borzage was a prestige director throughout the 1920s & 30s, but he is largely forgotten today. And this really should say starring Eleanor Boardman, who is featured in the majority of the film. She went on to star in “The Crowd” one of the greatest films ever made (1928, directed by King Vidor)

Fascinating fashion aside: In the first scene of this, Crawford is wearing a dress which is very similar to the one that she wore in 1932's "Letty Lynton", and which sparked an avalanche of copycat designs. I guess having it worn in a talkie made a greater impact on movie-goers.

What a difference in Miss Besserer's character and appearance here from her portrayal two years later as the mother of 'The Jazz Singer.' She had quite a busy two decades in silent films.

2:14 - 6:01 is all we get of Crawford as young Lady Catherine; hardly a ‘star’ turn - still it’s nice to see and a decent print. Her part was so small this film was omitted from her filmography for many years.

Early role though so she wasn’t the star

Love Eleanor Boardman. Soon realized I'd seen the 1930 version of this recently and they're both good.

Frank Braidwood is the lucky chap who gets to lip lock with the lovely Lucille LeSueur. He didn't have much of a Hollywood career, but he did get to smooch with the Queen of Golden Age Hollywood!

Grear fun. I play classical music on Amazon Music when there is no soundtrack,. It really helps. The thing is, I have trouble paying attention and am used to watching sound movies while doing something else! Bad habit. But with no talking, I can't do that and still follow the plot!!

Lucile La Suer was either 18 or 19 when she did this film.

Maugham’s best play. Should have been also done as a talkie.

Music would really help this film... Most or all silent film had music. It could be added to this film...

Yes, but then you wouldn't be watching it for free...

Silent movies need a music track.

Then put on a record, or perhaps you could create one?

@@thevault3853 Sorry I upset you - nobody likes criticism and you're trying to make a good KZbin site. I think you would get more viewers though, if you added a soundtrack.
