It teaches people how they should keep their yards up, what tools to use and you must have motivation and self pride in your home and neighbourhood. You don’t have to do it all in one day. If it’s too much for your health, go slow. Bit by bit works. Also you show to how to pick up your own garbage, and trim your trees and shrubs , one by one. I guess the game plan for someone that wants to do this, would be to start doing it alongside a "feeder" job or whatever you want to call it. Some sort of job that pays enough to do this on the side. Then, as you are able to find ways to pay for more lawn work and the like, you can possibly change the ratio of time put into them. Easier said than done I guess, but when you want to do a thing because it is a passion of yours, then trying to find ways to build up some way to turn it into a living can be very rewarding. It will almost always be a long term commitment and battle, with some luck, but if more people can manage to do jobs that they actually enjoy (barring the, hopefully, obvious things), then I do think that the world would be a better place overall. I'm still trying to find what I enjoy enough to really consider trying to put in that much effort for.

I simply enjoy making a visual difference. When I was building multi million dollar homes I had subcontracts for everything except plumbing, (which I do with skill), HVAC, and carpet. I loved getting the ICF foundations done. Then you frame a large floor area. Then you throw up the walls. Insulation looks good in the bays and I can install 2 floors of bats from the lower floor where multi story window walls and cathedral ceilings are. Every step provides satisfying visual progress and proves I accomplished good things. I had a rep for A) fixing the impossible, and B) being pretty anal and excellent at finish work. You like the trim, but without the rough stuff done well, it's not at all appreciated. Like lipstick on a pig.

There is a thing that happens when one takes a crap looking lawn and makes it look showroom fresh. It's hard to describe, but it just feels good and right when one does a good job and it looks great at the end. You are doing something important, both for the neighborhood, but for the city and home owner by doing these "charity cuts." I've been watching you and several others doing the same sort of thing and, remembering how good it made me feel when I was able to take care of my own yard, I can only imagine how good you must feel when you've finished a difficult job and it looks good. This is food for the soul and great karma for all of you who do these kinds of things and I thank you for doing it. Well done, young man. Well done indeed.

Bylaw is out 48-72 hours after it snows every time, maybe 2 out of the dozen or so bylaw officers my city has are good people and will work with you depending on your situation. Its not a job that seems to attract well adjusted people to it. Props to the lady in this video though she could have just wrote a ticket, slapped it to the door and walked away. Even though the service is free, you hold it up to your standards and make it look as good as the paying customers lawn(s) do. I wish that the people in your community (or those communities that you do NOT live in but volunteer your service(s)) would "pass the hat" to get a collection taken on your behalf. Show how much they appreciate you cleaning up their community for them. You could do whatever with the money, but I think it would be nice if the neighbors did something like that for you. I know you DON'T expect it, I would just like to see that happen sometime. Maybe I'm old school, too bad others don't appreciate you as we, your KZbin community do! Be Blessed!

What your doing is called the "Broken Window Theory". Although the theory is based on crime, it also can be used to help people take pride in their own yards. After watching you clean up a yard, hopefully these residents, that benefit from your generosity will take pride in their neighborhood and start paying it forward also. Keep up the good work and I for one will keep watching! Thanks......

I think my favorite part of working on any lawn, especially ones that are overgrown, or have had barely any maintenance done on them , is seeing the sidewalks and curbs emerge from all the grass, weeds and dirt. Even if the lawn is not the best, and has a lot of weeds, just making all the sidewalks and curbs & gutters look nice does a lot for the whole yard and house.
