Just a few notes: 1) Kardachev scale does say nothing about biotechnology. 2) Dyson Sphere, or more correctly Dyson Swarm, is also not exactly a requirement of the Kardachev scale. Plus, as the "swarm" implies, it's not a rigid sphere. 3) Ressource scarcity is irrelevant as long as you have a working sun: You can use starlifting to extract heavy elements from the star, gathering heavier elements whilst rejuvenating the sun by cleaning it. However, starlifting is also not a part of the Kardachev scale. 4) Kardachev type 3 does not neccessarily mean that you wrap every single star - you can wrap the entire galaxy for example or deconstruct uneccessary solarsystems for storing their ressources in more effective methods. 5) I thought Type 4 is local group, 5 is supercluster, 6 is universe and 7 is aimed at outside universe / multiverse?

While anybody can speculate and let their imagination run wild the theory of the civilization types suffers from two major flaws. First it envisions ever greater need and use for energy. Yet we see that as civilization becomes more advanced, it also becomes more energy efficient. For example using electricity to switch on a lamp is more energy efficient than using parafin lamps that in turn is more energy efficient than using a flaming torch. This suggests that rather than an ever increasing use of energy, that eventually the use of energy will reach a plateau and level off. Any increase in energy will then be based on the population growth. Yet any population can only grow to a certain size. Beyond that new territories will be needed, like a colony of bees becoming too big for the hive breaking up and the breakaway group needing to find new territory. This might not be practical or even possible in space exploration. This is where the problem lies. Just because you have learned to master the earth's energy and control the weather doesn't mean that you have the skill to create a new atmosphere on Mars in order to start a space colony on Mars. This is even more true when moving from a solar system to a galaxy civilization. Just because you can harness the power of the sun doesn't mean you have the know how of how to use energy to travel vast distances of several light years in space. This is especially true if you have to preserve the sun to sustain the solar system civilization rather than consume the sun's energy to move to a new star that might be farther away than the sun's energy can sustain you. Also energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can only change from 1 form to another. This means that at some point a civilization will reach its maximum use of using available energy. What happens then? Will the civilization then stagnate and not advance further, or even go extinct? A second major flaw is that at some point it envisions that the civilization will move from material to the non material or spiritual level. Yet the spiritual is something completely different than the physical and not a more refined form of physical matter as if the spiritual is like being at the gamma end of the electromagnetic spectrum rather than white light. To move from matter to spirit is like wanting to move from a 2 dimensional world to a third dimensional world when you are situated and limited in a 2 dimensional world because the depth dimension is non existent. Having mastered everything in a 2 dimensional world doesn't give you the knowledge of how to create a new dimension of depth. Likewise how do you move from 1 universe to a parallel universe when parallel lines never meet? This means that even if parallel universes exist which is not clear that it even exist, there is still the problem of being able to move from 1 universe to another especially if a universe is closed up on itself and unable to interact with another parallel universe. We have every reason to believe that each universe is closed in on itself since the total energy level in the universe stay the same since energy cannot be created or destroyed.

Around Type 4, I couldn’t stop thinking- If future humans put even a fraction of their energy (pun intended) into creating interpersonal environments of infinite love and safety, I don’t know if anyone would even be that interested in exploring the cosmos. This video freaked me out because I was literally thinking of a Dyson sphere surrounding the Sun with solar panels the other day and even asked AI about it, if there would be a civilization of such a type. I am already familiar with the Kardeshev scale and have thought of these types of civilizations ever since my imagination caught hold of these ideas. It caught me off guard to see a KZbin video talking about the same exact things that I was thinking. It is fascinating to think about all the undiscovered reality that we as a human race have not discovered yet! There are very few who dream of these ideas since most of us on this planet are too busy doing other behaviors like not being able to get along, boasting about one's ego, or politically trying to deceive or influence another in all emotional ways! In order for us to even get to a type 1 or 2 civilization, we would first have to overcome mastering our own human behavior and emotional states. What's wild to think about is that it's entirely possible that, in the seemingly infinite expanse of the universe, humans have evolved entirely independently on other worlds. What I don't quite understand by the Dyson Sphere concept is what would you actually need that massive amount of energy to power...? The only thing I can think of is some other theoretical technology to power a fusion propulsion engine for interstellar travel or wormhole tech. I mean there would never be that amount of people to that amount of energy to sustain our current needs for the most extravagant energy requirements.
