Brazilian cutlery company Tramontina made in 80's and 90's the "Commander" line. The Commander I was a slightly version of the cheap Chinese knife shown in his video. Commander 2 was a copy of Buckmaster. Commander 3 was a copy of Spanish MARTO Explora Survival. I had models 1 and 3, plus a Taiwanese copy of JK2. The latter I left in my vacation house in the beach. It saved the day some times. Matches stored at kitchen and first aid items were often destroyed by humidity. The items stored in the hollow handle allowed to solve the troubles up to deteriored items be replaced. Even the compass I used once to correct the TV antenna position, that turned in its pole after a storm.

Chris Reeve set the standard for hollow handle knives in the late 70's. Made out of a single billet of carbon steel.

Nice review. The handle is steel, and the best place ever to carry pain pills (no all day jingling). Pills help, as it takes about 3 days for the body to get used to hardships...

Ok take ur aitor knife and take off the butt cap then take out the capsule then take the spring then look into the hollow handle u well see like plastic cement and that is what holds the blade in place it's not just the pin also it makes the inside of handle water proof

Hi, not really no. I believe you can buy a tube from Aitor with the original kit, but I would suggest you put your own together with the tools and supplies you believe you'll find the most useful. That way you know exaclty what you get in terms of quality.

JK1 investment cast stainless steel JK2 aluminium alloy. Investment cast stainless steel better if one intends to bash the knife about. IMHO I subbed thanks for posting.

No, aunque muchos soldados lo llevaron, comprándolos ellos mismos, nunca fue de dotación oficial en el Ejército español. En las unidades de Operaciones Especiales fue de dotación, reglamentaria el Aitor Oso Negro, que sustituyó al FNT , Cuchillo de dotación de las unidades de Montaña desde 1942, y por extensión a las unidades guerrilleras, operaciones especiales, allá por principios de los 80. Yo los vi en la EMMOE en el año 85. Saludos!!

The blade is also made of 3 types of steel witch is chromium - vanadium - moldium or how ever u spell it .... And please don't say it that the knife was made after the Rambo movie because hollow handle knives where made way before the movie and it started with ( Randal knife company ) the Randal knife company well make u one but there is a 2yr waiting period.

One of the better reviews on this knife! Thanks. I will get it one soon so it will be interesting to see how exactly the scraping on the firesteel is done with this kit. The big knife doesn't seem suitable at all for working on a firesteel, a very strange thing (if true) considering it is called a survival knife. I understand the saw on this knife is not crap as on others, but honestly, if the blade is good at processing wood, I think a tiny saw on the knife could be replaced by a flat back instead. Sometimes I wonder if the saw is there to not allow for batoning, batoning, probably breaking two-pieces hollow handle knifes in two pieces sooner or later.... The Jungle King II seems to have extra steel around the blade base… Is this for extra support on the hollow handle construction? As for the barbedwire cutters shown on other models… sigh, how many actually uses them for that nowadays? A lot of blade lenght wasted I think. Lastly, anyone knows why "jungle" in the name?
