Always good to see someone react to music from my hometown (Dunedin reprazent!) The Clean are immensely influential, not just here in New Zealand, but also with overseas bands from Camper Van Beethoven to Pavement. The Clean's David Kilgour has also recorded some excellent solo albums ("Sugar Mouth" is amazing). Other local bands worth reacting to include The Chills, The Bats, Straitjacket Fits, Sneaky Feelings, The Verlaines, and Look Blue Go Purple. I'd recommend starting with "She Speeds" by Straitjacket Fits!

Yes!! Waiting for The Clean and other Flying Nun bands on this channel. Their Anthology collection is the best $5 I ever spent on a CD. So much uniqueness and laid back fun. I always thought of this track as more of a instrumental jam as David's vocals are a bit muted. The earlier EP stuff on the first disc is a bit different from stuff off their proper albums. I love songs like Diamond Shine, Big Cat, Indigo Blue, At the Bottom. Of course The Bats and The Chills (RIP Martin) come to mind as other standouts but I'll put in a word for The Verlaines too.... Death and the Maiden perhaps?? Saw The Cleam live at the Rock and Roll Hotel (RIP) in DC a decade ago with Times New Viking opening and it was bucket list for me. So glad I could see them before Hamish passed.

Hello there, long time no comment! As ever great reaction, of one of the greatest songs ever recorded, in my opinion! It's well worth checking out a few live versions of this classic. 2nd favourite live version for me is from a gig I actually attended, way back in 1988: kzbin.info/www/bejne/al6XqnyVaruKl7c Favourite version though, sounding completely different, I posted on my channel a few years back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2GadH6Oerpri68

Loved the motorik beat! The vocals were disappointingly weak, but instrumentally a winner.
