Love the videos and the narrative. Late November here (Ontario Canada), so from now on, indoor practices. Setting a schedule to determine how far that I ACTUALLY hit each club, not what I think (hope??) that I hit it. C'mon Spring. To you, yours and all of your subscribers, Seasons Greetings, be well and enjoy this great game.

Brings back memories. Early in my playing, I was an "accidental" 70% player -- older, stiffer and a bit hesitant so shorter than my playing buddies. Hole after hole, I was in the fairway, shooting "personal par" (so bogey for me then) while they were smashing their drives and approach shots -- into the goarse, into the water, into the woods, into the rough etc so I was often low score on any given hole! I hit longer nowadays but mostly (not always) use the same strategy -- "avoid the big numbers"! I like the 70% concept.

Great video course management is so overlooked and can save you many shots over the course of the round. I did exactly this last Friday on a par 5 - laid up to my favourite distance 80 yards and put pitching wedge within three feet of hole and sunk putt for a par!

Great advice. I'm a senior golfer now, but it's only been in the last couple of years that I've practiced what you're preaching. Actually taking hazards out of play by not using driver was the hardest lesson for me because of the pressure to use the "big dog " in front of your buddies.

7:45 - i love my 6 iron, but so often I would hit the limbs and lose my ball if I tried to punch out with a 6. I even hit the low limbs with my 4 iron on punches. I have considered adding back a 3 or even adding my 2 iron to the bag for low outs. I get in some BAD lies with driver lol.

@ It worked fairly well. As they say Practice Makes Perfect. I’ll have to use it as the situation requires it. Pitching videos have also helped me lower my score.

Great lesson Alex I will certainly be trying this more sensible way to play. Thoroughly enjoy these on course lessons. Cheers

thank you! glad you are loving the format… hope they help!

Surely the reason a lot of golfers go for the driver is because they will take at least two more shots to get on a green of a 400 yd. Par 4
@BillG-e5jАй бұрын
Sorry Stephen I don’t necessarily agree, my hcp is 7.4 and I see so many players myself included who don’t consider course management when the play. Maybe Alex’s lesson will get us all thinking about what is achievable and what is too risky.

Great video Alex. Love the lesson of not giving everything 100%. Thank you so much.

We don't realize how many extra shots we add to our scores when we get into trouble w/ bad lies, or tough scenerios, and try to go for the gusto shot, instead of playing it smart. One extra shot, compared to penalty strokes and more hazard shots makes a big difference at the end of the round.

Great advice. Many ways to go 300-350-400-450-500 yards. Any combination of math. A few variations of club combinations.

I tee off on every Par 4 or Par 5 with my 5 Iron. As a matter of fact, I never use a wood, don't even have a wood or hybrid in my bag anymore (because whenever I hit them, I hit low hooks that start left and curve further left; I'm lucky if I get 100 yards and often I'm losing those balls). I'm suffering for not being able to hit those clubs...but it will be no problem for me giving up those clubs...since I don't ever use them anyway.
@AlexElliottGolf11 күн бұрын
I think hybrid is a club golfers don't use enough! I am covering tips on how to use this in the next coming days

When I was fitted for my Titleist 4H, I hit it straight and carried 175 y in the bay. I've not been able to duplicate that on the course. I eagerly await your video

I get it. Not a bad idea. BUT, if a fellow can't clear 220 over 70% of the time, he is NEVER going to hit the green from 180 something. NEVER! I'm 70. If i get to where i can't carry 220, I won't play anymore. Why? Who want's to shoot 100?
