Story:
Once upon a time, on a sunny riverbank, there lived a clever monkey on a tall mango tree. He loved eating sweet mangoes and watching the sparkling river below.
One day, a lonely crocodile swam near the tree. The monkey saw him and said, “Hello, Crocodile! Want a mango?” The crocodile smiled and nodded happily.
The monkey tossed a mango to the crocodile. “Yummy!” said the crocodile, munching. Soon, they became best friends, sharing stories and jokes every day.
One evening, the crocodile told his wife about the monkey. She said, “If the monkey eats such tasty mangoes, his heart must be delicious! Bring it to me!”
The crocodile felt sad but agreed. The next day, he told the monkey, “My wife invites you to dinner. Jump on my back, and I’ll take you across the river!”
The monkey, excited, hopped onto the crocodile's back. As they swam, the crocodile said, “My wife wants your heart for dinner!”
The monkey’s eyes widened in shock, but he stayed calm. “Oh no!” he said. “I left my heart on the tree. Let’s go back to get it!”
The crocodile, curious and eager, turned around and swam back to the tree. The monkey kept talking to distract him.
When they reached the tree, the monkey jumped off the crocodile’s back. “Wait here! I’ll get my heart,” he said, climbing quickly.
Once safe on a high branch, the monkey laughed. “Oh, Crocodile, hearts can’t be left behind! I tricked you to save myself!”
The crocodile felt ashamed. “I’m sorry,” he said. “I shouldn’t have listened to my wife. Can we still be friends?”
The monkey smiled kindly. “We can be friends, but only if you promise never to harm me again,” he said firmly.
The crocodile agreed and swam away, thinking about how clever his monkey friend was and how wrong his wife had been.
The monkey, safe and happy, enjoyed his sweet mangoes, feeling proud of his quick thinking and bravery.
From that day, the monkey stayed alert, always looking out for danger and being wiser in choosing his friends.
What would you do if you were the monkey? Would you trust the crocodile again?
