The "yeah, yeah, yeah" and chord structure sound very early Beatles-esque. Rockin' number.

I discovered them on a video singing barbershop on a 1963 episode of Andy Williams show. Pretty interesting to see the shift in style from barbershop to 60s rock and roll.

I was just watching a tape of the Danny Kaye show from 1963 and they are on-very young. I knew they looked familiar and found this. It's nice when TCM shows old shows like that-brings back so many memories.

Wowsers! I'd never heard of The Clinger Sisters, nor Shoop Shoop De Doop, but, a really nice little gem! I like the fact the appearance they made here was on a local - rather than a national - music show, as it feels more 'real' (yes, I know - they'd be lip-synching either way). Tied into this being a local show (where? What TV show?), I was wondering if this made the charts, locally. It shows you that, for all the 'possible' chart-making songs, only a VERY few had enough (airplay, and, maybe a little payola, etc.) was needed to make it national. Times have changed, as now a person in a place no one's familiar with on the ENTIRE planet, could - with enough views - generate a real number 1, all with the power the internet brings. Thanks for sharing the song, and thanks to Kyler for sharing the visuals.

U.N. Owen It looks like the show might be Hollywood A Go Go (same set as other clips from that show.) I might be wrong, but that would be my guess.😊

VERY FAMOUS GROUP FROM THAT ERA THAT APPERAED ON MANY TV SHOWS INCLUDING ANDY WILIAMS AND THE DANNY KAYE SHOWS FOR EXAMPLE. THEY WERE REAL SISTERS PATSY-PEGGY-DEBBI AND LEESA. PEGGY BECAME A WONDERFUL SONGWRITER EVEN HAVING CHER COVER HER MUSIC. DEBBI BECAME A SUCCESSFUL ACTRESS AND LEESA HAD A SUCCESSFUL CAREER AS A COMMERCIALS SINGER ON TV.

THere's a really good article on the band in the latest edition of Ugly Things (#39) that makes it sound like they had some bad breaks in terms of career direction. They seem to have been a pretty rocking self-contained band who weren't allowed to be. So a lot of their material has them just as vocalists in front of strings etc.

I actually remember hearing this on the radio but never knew who sang it. Wasn't much of a hit but did get played a little. Cute song regardless. I know of the Clingers from much later doing completely different stuff. Amazing. Not at all bad looking either. This was just late enuff that they weren't all wearing ' Prom Dresses'. How i hated that formal look . . . !

Not the greatest singers, they should have let them play their own instruments which would make the singing more palatable.
