What a show this was. Brenda Leigh Johnson was an astonishing character, and Kyra Sedgwick brought such nuance to the character (you cheered her on, screamed for her to reconsider, cried with her and for her); amazing actress.

I was surprised to find out that she really wasn't a Southerner in Real life. I like the Show, but one could argue it was a FAscist Show.. Brenda would always skirt the law to get convictions.. Many times she would let the Bad Guys- really the Perpetrators get killed.

I LOVE the fact that Krya mentioned Prime Suspect and Helen Mirren. I have ALWAYS said that The Closer is America's Prime Suspect. Not the subject matter, of course, but everything else: the cast, the writing...even Brenda Lee Johnson's obsession with food mimics Mirren's Jane Tennison character eating "crisps" in the squad room on Prime Suspect. The Closer, like Prime Suspect, was perfect, and will surely be missed. *Kyra and Helen were in the Bacon directed LOSING CHASE movie. Brilliant!

Kyra and her supporting cast could not have been picked more perfectly. When she left, I tried to watch the “spinoff”. It ain’t the same. Can’t stand the woman who took her place and her crappy son/ nephew, whatever he was. Bad storylines around those two.
