As someone from England i can only imagine how scary blackouts in New York must be, the musical really capture this, however what made this very real was the panic in the audience and the collective sigh and relieved laughter as they realised the blackout was part of the show.

I'm very sorry, but could someone explain why blackouts are bad/scary in America?
@archiermanilo233 жыл бұрын
@@theumbrellaone5772 Well, I'd say it's more to do with blackouts in big cities like New York, as they're interconnected, and mainly lit up by buildings and stree lights, so taking all that away leaves everything in darkness. As well as that, power cuts are less common as than in more rural areas, so there are less precautions taken. And with all that, there are people who would take advantage of the situation, as there always are. Like in the song, with people trying to rob Usnavi's store.

I WAS WATCHING CLOSELY THE FIGHT SCENE BEFORE THE BLACKOUT AND I AM LAUGHING TOO HARD BECAUSE THIS IS GENIUS: 1.- Immediately after Benny punches this guy Everything kinda freezes and Usnavi is in the back holding Vanessa like yo wtf 2.- Graffiti Pete ditches the girl he's dancing with and pushes her aside. 3.- Nina reaches to stop Benny and Graffiti Pete pulls her back towards the girl he was dancing with. 4.- Usnavi freaking pushing the guy who wants to punch Benny lmao 5.- Some guy helps Usnavi up before some other guy tries to pick a fight with him. 6.- Graffiti Pete kinda TWIRLED the guy Benny punched and threw him off. 7.- Benny escapes the hold of Hat Guy and Nina tried to calm him down. He pushes her away. 8.- Vanessa goes and KICKS the guy with the hat XD 9.- And Daniela, in the far left, is pulling a shoe off to throw it to someone XDD All in, like, 10 seconds. @@edwardjacobus6986 I think you're ignoring that this blackout took place right after a fight went down at a club which could have easily lead to someone's death and induce mass panic. The characters are aware of the state of the town they live so such an occurrence like this is legitimately dangerous and terrifying. @@sydneytrainsareshit It's always cool seeing someone with a different opinion. I personally enjoyed the interpretation of Vanessa in the film more than on the stage. Not comparing Karen and Melissa btw, imo they both play their version of the character well

In high school I did sounds for this musical and the blackout moments were the toughest because I had to mute, raise, and cut lights in the sound booth within 10 seconds of each other.

i am jealous of the audience that were able to experience that
Can anyone tell why Vanessa comes in late compared to the ensemble (but with the band!) at 6:40? Did the actors get off from the band around 6:19 when the audience claps and cheers in the middle of the song?
@dylanosterbrock90246 жыл бұрын
What are they clapping at the beginning of Blackout?
@MsLivinglegend196 жыл бұрын
I think a lot of the audience didn't realise it was a new song so start clapping when they've realised it's a new song? not 100% sure though

Pretty sure they were applauding the cast suddenly bringing out flashlights for the performance. You can kind of see the spots of light from 6:21. When my college out up In the Heights, they did the same thing. We all thought the theater's power actually got cut, then applauded when we realized it was part of the musical!

Emil Hofileña i think ots cuz of all the mixes of the voices. Cuz if u notice there clapping after “Oye que paso” So they start to clap like 2 seconds after all the songs come tongue in a beautiful genius tht only lin manuel coud write. He is a geniu
