I love the energy of this music. The driving rhythm and speed make me almost jumpy. This is real feel-good music.

Carlos Núñez is a galician (NW of Spain) piper. He plays galician bagpipes, flutes and whistles. He never plays highland bagpipes.

Excellent! :D Il a le don pour faire sauter les gens partout quand il joue comme ça, c'est génial, vivement les concerts de Rennes et Brest!!

Seriously, I play the GHB and I did a couple concerts with Carlos Nunez. He could probably jump around like that playing a GHB, too. The guy is phenomenal! He can play faster than Stu Liddell and not miss anything.

So far far away scottish pipes are beautifull than Galician Pipes. Regards from Argentina, long live Scotland and all it´s traditions.

@ranzamaceanruig fr4nbl is right, I've tried both instruments. Galician bagpipes do not need much air, you can blow into the bag every 10 seconds, which is different to highland pipes where you usually need to blow into the bag every 2 seconds ! And you need to press the bag way harder with the Highland one. That's why Highland pipes are way louder. The fact that it's difficult to danse with Highland pipes doesn't mean you're not having fun !

the air isnt that problem, the power ist it... but it depends on the reed. schottish pipemusic is made for marching galician/asturian/... is for fiesta !!!

@PRINCESORH "Esmedieval" is talking Mallorqui language spoken in Mallorca. Island in the Mediterranean Sea. In northwestern Spain we speak Galician language.

Yeah, you would never be able to stop blowing for more than it takes to take another breath on the Great Highland Pipes. Unless it is the end of the performance.

Fantastic! For all you bagpipers out there, does it seem to you that Galician bagpipers have alot more fun playing than Great Highland pipers? I play the big pipes, but we don't get to jump around like that and have fun.

@ranzamaceanruig I do when I play Highland pipes. But a lot of it is the ceremony of it right? There are times to stand still and times to be crazy.

@PRINCESORH Gallego is currently the official language in Galicia, has its origin in Latin. It isn't a dialect of Spanish. In the thirteenth century was called Galician-Portuguese and was the most popular language for poetry in the Iberian Peninsula. Later, Portugal was an independent kingdom. But the territory of Galicia became part of the kingdom of Castile and the Galician language was forbidden (for official documents) from then until the nineteenth century.

Magnific! minute 2:12, as you can go as fast?
@MrThedalaillamaknows13 жыл бұрын
the last one isn't the gravel walk, no idea what it is, but it's not the gravel walk
@fr4nbl14 жыл бұрын
@ranzamaceanruig Well, I've never played the bagpipes. But I think the Scottish bagpipe takes a lot more air. I do not think you are eager to jump. Here in Galicia love the powerful sound of the great Scottish bagpipes, but the Galician bagpipe is designed to festive music.
@robertgallagher113010 жыл бұрын
I believe that the last tune is The Heather Breeze, not The Gravel Walk
@fr4nbl10 жыл бұрын
You have reason completely. The truth is that I was not sure what the last reel. I was confusing due to the speed and tone so acute of the Galician bagpipe. Thank you for the correction :)
@MrThedalaillamaknows13 жыл бұрын
unless i'm very much mistaken, the last tune isn't gravel walk.

@PIOBAIREACHDMHATH yeah, but the chanter on that thing is like playing an old school wooden chanter, not saying he's not incredibly talented, just that it would be much harder to play that fast, that well on a GHB.

@fr4nbl oh cool. Now is Galician considered a language unto itself or is it a dialect similar to castellano Spanish?.. Just wondering, i'm a language geek.
@pivofernandez590816 күн бұрын
Es un idioma de España.

@fr4nbl you guys (especially "esmedieval") don't look like youre speaking castellano Spanish, is that some northern dialect or something?
