Magazines are such an underrated part of firearm reliability, and this is a perfect showcase of why that is. Too many people/companies cheap out on magazines, and it can completely ruin your experience. Even a fantastic firearm fails if the magazine is trash. I hope you can get CMMG to do something about this. They've built up a reputation for making high-quality stuff. This is such an easily fixable issue that they should get on top of it right away.

I had one of the first conversion uppers with Cmmg conversion mags that went to a standard AR lower, they failed. So Cmmg eventually redesigned the conversion mags… I ended up with a Banshee 57 lower and it wouldn’t take FN mags, when I contacted CMMG they told me they designed it around Promag 5.7 handgun magazines, not FN’s. So glad to see the actual FN mags work with the dissent.

It's well known in the firearms community that ProMags are junk. I'm not sure who they're marketed to. A person who can afford a FN Five Seven probably isn't concerned about magazine cost. So it's troubling a firearms manufacturer would go to the trouble of R&Ding a gun, around junk magazines.

I have the dissent 5.7 & use FN factory magazines. But I will say, the mag release button requieres a ton of pressure to drop the magazine. I noticed then I put pressure at the bottom of the magazine & push up, then push the button. It releases just fine & with ease.

Yep the promag lack an internal metal liner so the feed lips expand as you showed in the video.

So far the Dissent has been awesome! I have 800 rounds through her with zero malfunctions. Running everything from tula steel cases, standard brass, federal HST & Speer gold dots 124 & 147 HP's. Had to steal a vortex spark from another rifle that I need to put back. So trying to decide what redot or reflex sight to put on on it. Wanna keep it small compact buta quality optic

Never seen any pro mags work well. I just got the Dissent 6.5" MKG9mm. It came with one Glock mags. I don't mess with aftermarket cheap mags for anything

the charging handle problem is misinformation. I've seen cmmg show this in their promotion video on the dissent, you can take the left handed charging handle and put it on the right with no need to purchase anything.

That's confusing. I've seen two or three YT vids where people all say that's not possible. And CMMG does in fact sell separate left & right charging handles on their web site. Are you sure you're not the misinformation? ;)

I've never had ANY issues with promags... when I ran them through a 57. I think promag may have tweaked those magazines until they worked in the 57 specifically. Which might make them not so great in the Dissent or Banshee.

Sticks and clamps... Looks like a fun gun. The promag thing is so weird. I've never had one function like it should and yet they remain available. Only other brand magazine in my experience that spit rounds out like that was MFT and I just finished loading them and oh look now my ammo is on the floor.

So I noticed in my FN mags, the mag release button requieres a lot more pressure to release the mag. Was the case with you as well? Strange enough, when I apply pressure at the bottom of the mag and upwards, it release just fine? Hm

I hand load 5.7, when doing so my FN57 MAGS take the FMJ projectile, where as the CMMG Pro Mag mags are a tad short. So I'm not sure specs on the Pro Mag are the same as OEM FN.

Somebody mentioned conversion mags but CMMG has their own 32 round AR Style mags for 5.7 that are super high quality and very reasonably priced. Check them out!

Just a different lower…standard AR lower. I don’t know why you would think they’d consider designing their own 5.7 mag when the lower was designed for factory FN mags. Perhaps I am missing something…

Duke Nukem 3D. I'm a bit peeved at CMMG, bc my Banshee MkGs 9mm starts smashing "ejected" brass into a newly fed cartridge - instead of actually ejecting the spent brass. ...Apparently my suppressed banshee (& others) has a crappy ejector spring that wears out at the 800 round count. When my 147g casings do eject, they're going out at the 1 O'clock to 3 O'clock positions, which seems wrong. I just bought the 1, 2 & 3 ounce buffer weights to see if that does anything, otherwise I'll just get a new ejector spring.

Bro, you should have put a few rounds through - not into...THROUGH - those f__king "Pro" mags!! I sure would have... 😂 And I just checked - they are still selling those mags with the Dissent, eight months after this demonstration of epic fail. Clearly they DGAF about their customers. No thanks. Sweet little gun though, but I don't know...for $2K...I feel like most gun companies literally hate their customers these days in terms of the lack of QC and attention to small but important details. If that mag came with the gun, they either 1) Never tested it, or B) Tested it and said, screw 'em, ship it. Not good either way.
