reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode where a man flipped a coin and it landed on it's side, and somehow, that gave him the power to read minds. he worked at a bank and read the mind of an old man, and found out that old man had a plan to rob the bank vault when he left that day. in the end, apparently the old man just thinks about doing that every single day though he would never do it.

By the way, fundamental thing about seeing a therapist: if it’s something that’s harming you mentally in some way, it’s a problem, no matter how small it might be. I might not be phrasing this right, but, no good therapist would tell you that they aren’t “real” problems.
@Lucifronz5 жыл бұрын

What is bothering you may not be why you are bothered by it. What I mean is, just because your partner wears odd socks of the same colour (for example) and when they do your laundry, pair same-coloured, odd socks together, and that infuriates you (whilst they have no idea why you care) doesn't mean it's about socks. It could be a myriad different reasons associated to the way your mind works. Maybe you were raised poor and had to mismatch clothes because yo just couldn't afford new ones. Maybe someone messing with your clothing makes you feel less independent or out of control. Maybe it's just that the person 6ou love is oblivious to something so obvious to you. Little shit that screws with you isn't ever little shit, it's sand in your mental shoe. It's going to keep irritating you until you deal with it. So therapy helps. And if you live in America where Therapy is theft, just find a friend to tell stupid shit to. Might e a close friend - could be a distant friend depending on who you feel like opening up to. Just so long as you have someone you don't mind opening up to and being honest with. Hell, talk to your dog or cat or a pet rock. The most important part is talking it out and saying things out loud.

What’s freaky is that most of the problems they talked about shrinks laughing at, are problems people most often talk about! One of my friends asked his shrink, and she said, “It doesn’t matter if they’re actually problems or not, they’re problems to you. That’s what we’re getting paid for.” I dunno if it’s true or not, but I dunno.
@writershard50653 жыл бұрын
I mean, it's true. They -are- problems to you, and a good therapist will help you through them, no matter how small. That's the whole point of a therapist: To help you through the problems that you feel you can't open up about with your friends and family due to social pressures.

I have to admit, when I finally watched a bit of the cooptional podcast for real, I was kinda disappointed that everyone didn't just look like their cartoons because I'd watched so many of them. The style for these cartoons are just wonderful, I love it. Everyone isn't just standing around stiff, it's very fluid and expressive, it's professional. Real life is boring, we need to make some alternate reality implant thing that makes this all a cartoon.

Theses things they are talking about really aren't real problems, but they are made problems because people are raised in sheltered environments where they didn't have to deal with bad shit happening to them or their parents focused more on removing the problems for them instead of teaching them how to solve their own problems. I am a big supporter of therapy and if you feel there is no way you can solve an issue yourself or through your friends and family, go ahead, there is no shame, still, when people say your shit at something or your an asshole ask yourself, why do you care so much? Take a step back and honestly ask yourself, why does this matter to me? I've spent a year in therapy for various stuff and trust me, this is likely one of the things you will be asked to do anyways.
