I think if things don't change soon, this podcast might end up one for the history books. The schedule is increasingly erratic, the uploads here even more so, and the viewer count on average is definitely not going up. It might be wise if she hands the reins over to Dodger or Jesse, if either of them want them, until she'd had time to deal with everything.

Yeah like, his knowledge about mindset is correct, but his analysis of esports sounds way off. Like he's looking for problems to fix that ain't there and end up creating a false narrative. Like, disrespect in esports? It's way more respectful than any other sporting event out there, well besides like golf maybe. I'd say he should take an analytical look on himself and why he's trying to prove himself to everyone.

I'm still in board. The podcasts are usually decently enjoyable. It's still people I like talking to each other, and that's good for me. But I can't pretend that the interesting content, the analasys of industry news and all that was my favourite part of the podcast, and its definitely lacking in that department.

The differences between gaming scholarships and sports and music scholarships is that you know that the latter is still going to be around 4-8+ years out. With gaming, does anyone honestly know what pro games popular now will still be popular? That's a huge variable difference. A kid entering high school wanting to go pro in one game could see that game disappear from the gaming landscape by the time they leave high school, and a new one will come and go by the time they leave college.

This has been one of the most cerebral Cooptionals I have seen in a very long time. Really good one here Genna, what a way to come back. I really liked the discussion around what you play on stream versus what you watch and about choosing what to stream. I really got that one, I watch Jessie's channel even though most of what he plays is stuff I'd never enjoy myself, same when Jirard or Beard Bros are doing Nintendo things. It's fun to watch good personalities stream things they care about. To another point, I enjoy watching walking sims or scary games on Twitch or YT because I don't play them myself, but like seeing someone undergo those stories and getting to experience them myself a different way. Awesome discussion in this one.

Background noise. I use these streams as great background noise while playing games that don't require sound. They are quite good to listen to while doing other things as they don't require you to watch the screen.

Does chat conversations work in streams with a high viewcount? Sometime I lurk on Dexbonus and the amount of chat messages there that get posted is so much that it takes a second or three and your comment is gone into the void of "scroll up". It's possible for the around 200 viewer streams I think but how does a chat community form in those big streams?

I actually use the twitch desktop app for free games. No joke, I get free games via twitch Prime about once a month. It's easily about 1/5 of my pc library at this point.

i think there needs to be added a new section in friends... for online/chat friends.. they may not be irl friends but they aren't acquaintances either after a while. :edit: I use the twitch app for some modded games like minecraft. and when my browser is being a butt sometimes that is the only way I can watch twitch.

It's so bizarre hearing these relatively big names in KZbin and Twitch content creation talk about Fire Emblem and how Three Houses is their first one of series. I really didn't realize how even Awakening and Fates, which were on the 3DS, are still fairly niche (don't even bother looking for big names playing the older GBA titles). Of course I think the Switch is just so big that it helps grant more accessibility to FE3H.

This stuff is the opposite of what gaming is to me :D more power to them of course, and it sounds fascinating. But it's competitive and complex nature sounds more like work, where the aim is improvement and mastery rather than escapism and intrigue. Even in sports I'm not a fan of the serious approach, in fact when Genna et al talk about competitive play it just reminds me of all of the people who took football too seriously at school, caring only about winning and not just the challenge and the fun. Which is funny because that's why so many gamers dislike sports, yet seem to become what they revile when they find their own competitive domain. A plague on people who consider the main aim of competitive play to be winning, or worse, the advancement of mankind's ability at said game!
