Just got this puzzle this year for Yule, and out of all the gifts I got, this is the one I've played with the most. I wouldn't stop playing with it until I solved it, and then I took it apart and played with it until I figured out how to solve it easily. Came to watch your channel to see how you solved it, and I'm glad to say I worked out solving it in the same manner.

Thank you for this video! A coworker brought this in because he was frustrated by it. I watched the first part (before the warning) to see what it was supposed to look like solved. Then took a good few hours to solve it (I used some clear tape to mark the overlaps because I kept losing track of which one I was holding). Finally, I watched your simpler solution.

I played with this puzzle 3 years ago in school and one of my friends could never figure it out. I played with it so much I did it with my eyes closed consistently by feeling the "U" shape with the 2 notches at perpendicular spots on the center loop.

Question(s): How many hours/minutes do you spend on solving puzzles depending on difficulty and amount of work a puzzle requires? Also, will you do Q&A of some sort in the near future?

I do a Q&A in the Special Episodes from time to time. If there are interesting questions. Solving time is very different. Not every puzzle that requires time must be difficult and other way around. 😁

It was difficult every time, and I tried to find a step-by-step way to solve it easy every time. Now several weeks using it as a coaster only, I have forgotten my method... Glad to see this puzzle in yor video :)

Have you shown everyone the Kline bottle puzzle anyone can make out of paper? You start with a 4 dementional Kline bottle shape made of paper then cut them in half and it results in two interconnected hearts that look impossible. It's a cool puzzle for 2 reasons. The difficulty of learning it and the impressive results and simplicity of it only needing a piece of paper.

I just imagine there is a factory somewhere producing metal coasters of this variety. There is a machine that makes the notches and combines the rings. then they are folded by hand and placed in a box. The hiring process is simple, solve the puzzle and you're on the team.

I love you videos man, so don't take this comment the wrong way (in anyway) i'm a puzzler myself, and maybe it's just me (i know everyone does puzzles differently) but when i do ANY puzzle (especially ones that require taking them apart) I do it VERY SLOWLY as to see what's what with the puzzle. i don't agree with this puzzle even being a 2, mainly because with MOST puzzles the requirement is to "take it apart" and "put it back together" i feel this is a puzzle that should already START OFF "taken apart" because realistically, all you have to do with this puzzle (I have one myself and did the same thing) is take it apart slowly, and while you're doing that pay attention to the grooves and HOW it's coming apart, I fell this "puzzle" doesn't tech have a trick, where a trick box starts off locked so you HAVE no way to actually see or figure out how to put it back together UNLESS you unlock it etc. this one, it's like unless you're taking it apart FAST (which in my opinion, you honestly SHOULDN'T be doing puzzles, because they are not MEANT to be rushed in anyway, it's about patience and actually using your brain) there is no way you're not putting this back together, literally you take it apart slowly, watch as you're doing it, how it opens, where the grooves are etc, and you can literally put it back together the second you take it apart (obv in minutes just exaggerating with the seconds stuff but i mean pretty much will feel like seconds) So i don't know, i only see this puzzle being a 3+ (as in if you're going to rate it a 3 or higher than a 3) if you're someone who rushes puzzles and just pries this thing open without even looking at it etc. THEN i can see where someone will have to play around with it for some time to get it back to the original way, but as i said, if you do puzzles A LOT, then i'm sorry, you pay attention, from the way you take the puzzle apart, to how you put it back together, you're always paying attention and taking things slow, this reminds me of the bamboo ball puzzle, another "EASY" puzzle if you're just properly paying ATTENTION to how you disassembled it in the first place. So no hate, I just can't see how even you (because you do seem to be really good with puzzles and you seem to clearly do them a lot, so IMO common things like just paying attention to how you took it apart should be like first hand knowledge to you, as in one of the first things you attempt etc. most puzzles you take the same approach as you would with another, because most puzzles have similar solutions, just different mechanics) would rate this a 4. I mean a 4 out of 6 then that's pretty much saying this is like "advanced" and i'm sorry, like i'm saying, unless you're RUSHING thew the puzzle (and then i stick with what i said before just stop doing puzzles because they aren't meant for you if your goal is to "rush" through them, and in this case, you're just ending up giving yourself more work by rushing threw it)there is no way this is a 4 and no way you would even struggle to do this, like i said when i did mine, i literally just took it apart SLOWLY! (not how you do in this video and why i'm saying YAH i can GET if you just take it apart all fast with out regards to how it's put together etc, but again,i stand with what i'm saying, why are you doing puzzles, if you're not even paying attention to the mechanics and taking your time with it?)and as i was doing so i watched where the grooves were aligned and how it was actually coming apart (to know you HAVE to kind of put them back together at the same time, you can't lock one in before the other, or you have the problem shown in the vid) and i literally put it back in the minute it was taken apart (again exaggeration but literally what it felt like, there wasn't even a close to an hour thing going on or half an hour, and if you're taking this long with a simple puzzle, yah i dunno, like i'm saying, be more patient and more aware of the puzzle you're doing then, because imo rushing ANY puzzle especially this one, is just going to give you more work, then it actually is, u take my approach and don't just break the damn thing apart all fast, n trust me this puzzle is like a 2 it can be done in minutes. i 100% feel this puzzle (or any puzzles like this) should honestly already come disassembled, so you have NO WAY of seeing how it's put together while you're actually taking it a part kind of thing, I feel if this thing was disassembled at the start then it would def be a 4, because you'd have no way to watch how it came apart, and you WOULD have to play around with it and the grooves etc to get it to fit and lock in the right way, as it is though, literally all you have to do, is take it apart slowly, watch how it's coming apart, see where the grooves are etc, and you can literally put it back in a couple of mins from taking it apart. 2 out of 6 for me. the "look" is what got me to buy this puzzle, the actual puzzle itself was very disappointing. Love the videos though and i use that brilliant site now because of you too! so keep puzzling man!

Actually it is possible to put it together one piece at a time. When I solve it I put the right piece first. You have to leave the left piece into the loop that forms to the upper left corner. Then it is a matter of turning the left piece on at right position. It is hard to explain how it is done, but I solve it that way

This puzzle Was. A. Bitch. I figured out the algorithm using the Coaster and Hanayana ring as my "base" to manipulate the other two, but when I would weave them together, my carpal tunnel syndrome and nerve damage would cause me to drop the left ring and I would be lost. Thank you for jogging my memory and allowing me to solve the puzzle. ❤

I got this puzzle a couple of days ago. I was drinking heavily when the delivery guy came to the door - ding dong - and I`m like "fuck yeah...puzzle time!!" Cause I really, really, REALLY needed a coaster to protect my mother`s antique tables from alcohol slime. So I get this thing, fiddle around a bit, and I`m like "fuckit!!" So in my drunken rage I threw it against the wall and holy-fucking-WOW, it fell in into place!! So I said "fuckit!!", fixed another drink, placed it on the coaster, then promptly passed out with some popcorn in my hand.

This video reminds me of my 8th grade math class. Class put your pencils down while I explain what you need to do. By the time she was done explaining what to do I couldn't even spell my name. Explain while doing and not so much this is what you need to do then you explain some other part of what to do without actually doing it. I just get confused and by the time you get to doing it I am just lost.
