I am showing how to use the Coil Gun by Nu-Calgon a must own HVAC Tool to clean condenser coils. Also can be used wherever cleaning chemicals need to be sprayed and mixed with water. Just hook up the nozzle to your hose then water on. Fill bottle with cleaning solution. Pull the nozzle handle and allow this set up to quickly soap up your condenser coil. Why waste time with a pump sprayer. Here I show how I can soap up three condensers in under 4 minutes using this handy air conditioning coil cleaning tool the Coil Gun

The longer nozzle is a venturi nozzle and aids in foaming.

Yes but I find it penetrates deeper into the coil with that flat adapter or no adapter at all. I was thinking of buying the adapter that fits into the condenser fan cover to soap up coils that way. Have you tried that adapter?

Yeah I take the nozzles off for my package units and the units that are much more dirty that I haven't maintained over the years. If I've kept the calls nice and clean I use the foam wand because I seem to get more bang for the buck out of the coil cleaner.

I bought my coil gun about 14 or 15 years ago. Its a great tool. Going back to a pump sprayer would be like going back from digital gauges to analog. It just isn't gonna happen.

I still use my analogs even though I have Testo but I almost always use a pipe clamp if I do to calculate superheat and subcooling. I had my bottle set up about 8 years ago. I had to replace a washer on my set up once by the quick connect.

Water is the best if you do it right direction.. shut off the fans and spray down on those condensers..rack should be okay since your substituting air for water.

They actually make a wand that attaches to that sprayer that I can actually say works great on slanted evaporator coils even in place! You just need to put down a towel and hook your vacuum up to the drain and run the vacuum while you spray because it can get a little messy

I have used those coil guns, the only issue I have is the cost of $80.00 for a piece of plastic, the very first one I purchased in 1999 or 2000 it was $40.00, the second problem I have is they knocked around in back of my truck and spill whatever is left in the bottle and then turns my bed liner white. The only thing I use now is the spray can version. Both ways works good, it is all in preference of the technician

I keep this the nozzle and a jug of coil cleaner in a bucket. Prevents any mess from spilling which will happen pump bottle or this setup. My pump bottles would always drip out the nozzle

Could be the same thing. This set up is for diluting the chemical cleaner with water to soap up the condenser. There is a foam wand that comes with it. I just prefer having the soap penetrate the coil deeper why I don’t use it.
@smartpig129

Ratio. Most Foam wash guns from 1-100 soap/water ratio to 1-1000, where as a coil gun is specifically set for the ratios of coil cleaners. I looked into it last week.
@thehvachacker
@thehvachacker 5 жыл бұрын
I would think the high end foam wash guns could set the mixture close but the price are most likely similar. I had to watch a video to find out what a foam wash gun was after Rob asked this. I am surprised cause this has 4 setting on my bottle to change the dilution ratio. The foam washer I was looking at in a video had 5 but was around the same price.
@smartpig129

@@thehvachacker Most foam car wash ones are actually fairly cheap compared from what I was seeing. For example, the Nu-Calgon coil gun on Amazon right now is around $80 give or take a few(this is the top of the list that came up). In the similar-to list you can scroll through, it lists the car wash guns anywhere from $15-$40. They're basically the exact same thing, except the dilution ratios are very different from what I was seeing.

Hey I see you are working on a Lennox. I have the Lennox Elite compressor series it's pretty much the same style cabinet. I wanted to see about getting the panels off the unit so I can clean the coils. You just back the screws out on the 4 different panels and the grills come right off correct? And great video would love to see how you took the panels off on those Lennox units. And I have cleaned my other units before but I just got this Lennox installed 2 years ago now I wanna give her a bath lol

There is a clip inside that you need to use to help swing it back on all the other taps are straight on the side without screws. Some of these even have 4 screws per panel on the newer units

If the condensers are greasy enough i'll soak them in a nuclear piss solution aka special HD calclean, let it soak and rinse off the nasty gunk real good. Give it a final rinse in nu brite with the foam gun and get the condenser looking real damn nice.

Used too much coil cleaner!! I would like to use water first wet the coils, then spray diluted coil cleaners with a pump (Walmart $20), wait for 5 to 10min, then rinse the coils with clean water. This device waste too much coil cleaning solutions
@thehvachacker
@thehvachacker 4 жыл бұрын
Can never use too much coil cleaner at least not the cleaner I use. It’s mr foamy and really weak. Yet won’t damage the coil or burn me if I get splashed. I usually use 1/2 this spray bottle per unit. They clean up nice and if I put stronger cleaner on after that really foams no dirt comes out with the foam. This stuff doesn’t even really foam
@TPACOG
@TPACOG 2 жыл бұрын
Yea that’s my one gripe as well however… it mixes the solution 4:1 for you so it really doesn’t waste anymore than the hand pump sprayer does… it does however have a lot more water pressure which uses a lot more cleaner.. but you can mitigate that by first putting a small amount in the sprayer and actually using the tips unlike this guy 😂

Great job.. you just pushed any dirt further into the coil. I don't use that for that exact reason. Your suppose to wash inside to out.. bad example folks. This is how NOT to wash a coil. Keep cleaning them soo I have a job to come back and do it right. Oh hope that's not a double coil. Cause they have to be split to be done right.
@thehvachacker
@thehvachacker 5 жыл бұрын
This coil is clean I rinse it before i soap it. if you watch the water go through the coil you will know if it is clean or not. I make sure the water is always coming through the coil clean. You also know how the water penetrates the coil. This video is only showing soaping up the coils not actually washing them. Good luck taking the tops of these condensers off to clean the coils from the inside out.
@justinjay6170

Lol. I was thinking the same thing. I clean the coil with this same gun the same way. Water goes through coil and you can tell if it's clean. However, to this Carrier guys defense on those double coils. The proper way is to split the coils. But going to a resident with 3+ systems all double coils for maintenance. I won't lie. I ain't got time for all that. I have multiple calls to go. Especially this time of year. Good video bud!!

It's not hard removing the fan guard for that Lennox unit..4 screws wow that's hard. So people who dont do the trade see this video and think your doing it right..but your not!!! Especially that half ass last spray for the fan motor. I'm not a Carrier guy. Im a do your job right guy. I work on all makes refrigeration or heating and air. Justin..you dont have time??? Bull call your office and tell them right off the start what a customer has if they dont know so you MAKE the time. Also let the customer know splitting coils is beyond normal maintenance of single coils. Why is it so hard to find people to to jobs right?

@thehvachacker 5 жыл бұрын
This isn’t. Video on coil cleaning but soaping the units for cleaning. How much do you charge for a residential maintenance contract? For 200 for the pm how much time will that allow you to spend on the condenser. Also there is no spitting this coil. To tear down this system as you say is about an hour before you start cleaning. If this was a double coil yes it needs to be split. Yet for most residential systems it’s a waste to split on every maintenance. If this was larger commercial systems yes then the coils are getting split for power washing. I was just putting soap on the fan blades so when rinsing the green stuff comes off. Half ass applying soap on fan blades. You lose credibility with on your comments with that. Lifting the heavy metal fan cover off is the easy part. Putting back on takes a few minutes since there is empty space the wires have to get snakes through to get back into the control section. None of the machines I service have hi pressure problems so my coil cleaning ways must be working. I have been servicing these machines since installed. If splitting of a coil is required that is an extra charge. This video is about a tool so get over it
@FlyEaglesFly19111
@FlyEaglesFly19111 5 жыл бұрын
I dont know what my company charges for a residential unit. I'm not a "C" book. I'm a "B" book. So I do do residential . But regardless coil cleaning is the same method. Yes your point was the tool.. and mine was the method of cleaning properly. So if the blade has alge on it even better to take it apart and clean it with a sponge. $200 a PM per unit is good money to do a job properly.I see your not up for constructive criticism. Exposed what you got caught on details and now your mad. DO THE JOB RIGHT. Enjoy yourself.
