The symbolism in this scene is so powerful. The prodigal daughter came home and her father who had been harsh to her welcomed her with open and outstretched arms. I don’t even think Spielberg knew how powerful this scene would be. God is always trying to tell us something - we just have to keep listening. Jesus is Lord.

I cried when I first saw this movie and I never tire of watching it again and again. There are certain movies that are just perfect and this is one of them. Yet despite receiving 11 Oscar nominations, the movie was snubbed by the voters. Not one Oscar was awarded to this movie. A bigger travesty in Oscar history has never occurred.
