I have owned a 1911 since I got off active duty in 1989. I own 2 Glock 9mm's a G17 & G43x and A smith & Wesson 4 inch model 686 in stainless steel. As a cop, I carried a smith 357 4 inch 686 and it was and still is my favorite, when Glock's came in I switched over to one in 9mm and 40sw for duty. My 2 1911's I have always and still to this day carry off duty winter and summer. The 1911 is what I had and used in the military for the 6 years I was in. Once out of the military I bought a Springfield armory blue steel loaded model and later on a stainless steel Springfield loaded in 45 caliber using 8 round magazines of top-notch for reliability with them both having over 3k rounds fired with no issues because I keep them clean and lubricated. ** Secret for me in the reliability of both guns is to only use a 16lb recoil spring weather music wire or chrome silicone (my favorite) and stay away from modifications that have to rhyme or reason. Both have GI recoil systems, Novack sights and milled stainless steel magazine catches that's it

Served as a Combat Engineer, 101st Airborne Division when the 1911A1 was still the standard side arm. I also was my Company's Unit Armorer. Completed the United States Army's Armorer's School. Today in the Constitutional Militia my secondary weapon strapped in a drop leg holster is a Custom 1911A1 45ACP. It is the only side arm I would ever consider carrying and trust my life with. It is an extension of my arm. I like how it feels in my hand, and I like how it shoots.

thanks for the video, Some time ago I did not like 1911, but one day I decided to have one, I tried it, and I was amazed at that kind of weapons and mechanism, now, I am the proud father of four of those 1911 babies in different brands. for dairy carry, I prefer modern actions, for concealing and for less weight, but for hunting, the 1911 in 45 ACP or 10 MM.

Damn so much recoil. I run a Gock 41 and i love it much better than a 9mm. I can shoot double tap without problems and the 2 shots are always in the A zone. Sorry for my bad english. Is it normal that a 1911 recoil so much? I don’t run a 1911 from a long time. I’m a Glock guy 😅
@jurassicwisconsin7203 жыл бұрын
Recoil actually isn't bad. 1911s in 45acp generally have less felt recoil than polymer framed 45s because of the weight of the steel frame. I've shot this comparing it to a glock 30 and it's much smoother as far as recoil goes in my opinion

I was weaned on the 45 Auto in the United States Army, 326th Combat Engineer Battalion, 101St Airborne Division when we were training to take on the Soviet Army on any peace of Real Estate on planet earth. Not meaning to be so harsh dude, but if you seriously think the 45 kicks too much you should just give up shooting all together. I know woman who handle and shoot the 45ACP extremely well, and love it. Now for decades being out of the Army I double tap with my 45ACP and my 5.56 AR while training. And my groups are very close together and in the Kill Box. You control the Weapon, instead of the Weapon controlling you. When you grab a 45 son, you hold it and shoot it like a man.
