Height is a +5, NOT advantage. This was cut in patch 2 or 3 of Early Access

You appear to be correct 💯. Thank you for the correction friend! +5 is still pretty darn spiffy. ((PINNED))

+2 is the height bonus in bg3. Technically +5 works out to be slighty more than rolling two d20s mathematically, interestingly in the table top rules advantage/disadvantage is a +5/-5 modifier when applied to passive scores (eg. Passive perception).
@RekitRogue
@RekitRogue Жыл бұрын
@@VikCachat I think adding passive perceptions to BG3 would have been pretty cool. BUT a super sneaky boi could probably exploit the mechanic. So I'm fine with the d20 roll. And ty for the +2 input and passives information. 🙏

One of the devs from Diablo 4 was whining about how they don't want to be held to an unfair standard that larian is creating and to not expect it from the industry on Twitter. They have like 100x the funding of larian. That's how gross blizzard is.
@RekitRogue
@RekitRogue Жыл бұрын
I'm just happy Larian is holding the ball with BG3, Having played D4 on console (and this may be considered a "hot take") I'd argue that Early Access BG3 is a better game then full release D4. But, that's just 1 nerds opinion.

Damn. I know nothing about this series, and I was really hoping combat was more action based (like Diablo or Witcher 3). Super super bummed to hear that it’s turn-based. From all the things I’ve heard about this game, I got pretty excited for it. But I tried Persona 5 and apparently turn-based isn’t my thing.

Actually...the game explains... jackshIt... You can read everything, sure, but there's nothing even reassembling a tutorial. Even as a complete beginner, in early access, you are dumped into action and ... that's it. It's up to you to figure it ALL out.... Can't wait for the difficulty choices once the game gets fully released, but even that way I don't have my hopes up. Oh, I did manage to get off the ship, protect the grove, save Halsin and quite q number of other stuff, but jeez, it was way more difficult than it has to be.

Unless I somehow zoned out while you mentioned this, I'm a bit confused on what determines a miss. There are times where I was pretty sure I had a good roll, but would do no damage. So is it an armor stat on the enemy that affects this? If so, can even rolling a 20 do nothing to get the hit in? It feels so different from divinity 2, despite it looking the same at a glace
@RekitRogue
@RekitRogue Жыл бұрын
A monster or Enemies Armor Class is determined by a few things. 1: The Armor it is wearing or Natural armor (like a Bear) This is typically a static bonus. 2: The enemies Dexterity Modifier is applied to this value. 3: Any magical buffs they may have (if any) are then applied finally. Total: Static Value of Leather is 11+Dexterity (If let's say a goblin has a 16 Dexterity, he receives a +3 to that value. Making his Total Armor class 14. Your attack is based off of your Proficiency (which is level dependent) and your Ability modifier (Which is either Strength or Dexterity) So if you are attacking the Goblin who has a 14 Armor class. and your Proficiency is +2 (let's say you are level 1) and Your using a Greatsword that requires Strength to attack with, and your Strength is a 14 granting you a +2 your total to hit is +4. So to hit the Goblin you need a 10 on the 1d20 or higher to connect. (sorry this is so long lol) and a natural 20 should always hit any enemy regardless of its Armor class value. (hope this helped.)

I hope somebody mods this whole game into Skyrim. I’d love to play it then. The most I can get into these types of games is Xcom 1 and 2, and those were anomalies. Is combat like that at all? I’ve never played anything like this, and I want to experience the story and characters, but I just don’t know about the gameplay

Does this game have a third person camera style for exploration and stuff? Like, not a janky one, but something like a Skyrim?
@RekitRogue

The camera style is top down similar to the Divinity Original Sin or Pillars of Eternity. Not like Skyrim or first person, but yest it is a 3rd person camera style, and it zooms into a social camera during dialogue.

DOS2 combat was all about armor, crowd control, and cooldowns. That was my first CRPG, and I loved it. It took me a while to get used to BG3’s combat system, but I’m enjoying it now. That said, I think you will continue to be disappointed with it if you’re expecting DOS2-style combat. I don’t think it’s magically going to get more similar to DOS2 in the 10 days left until release. Maybe play on story difficulty? That way, you won’t have to fuss with the combat too much and can focus on the story.
