growing up a little white boy from a small town in Wisconsin I used to watch Soul Train every Saturday at 1 p.m. growing up that's when I first discovered the Commodores and I knew when I grow up I want to be a black musician and play in a funk band!!!!!

@@juandelakrus1807 I am a suburban white male from Los Angeles (Long Beach) I was 18 in '85 one of the most glorious times to be a kid in LA and even better if interested in music. It was alive, and everyone was "in a band" and learning to play. Yes, VERY decadent and over the top our Reagan years were (where is he now?) but I WANTED to play the guitar BECAUSE of PRINCE. It was the WAY he played it, loved it, held it, caressed it .....his "feel" and emotion did it for me. I loved my metal guys, Randy Rhoads was cetainly the other major influence for me, but Prince was my biggest, and still is my biggest, today. It was more about HOW he played and not what.
