Nothing else to say except a big thanks for watching, and for all the support for this big 3-part Namco series over the last 2 months. Hope you've enjoyed it! :)

Today was my first day back in the classroom, teaching a new group of fresh-faced students, I get home, and I'm treated to a new Kim Justice video. Just when I thought my day couldn't get better.

I like going through these videos slowly, stopping it and going to play cool stuff in Mame, then back to find the next gem. Your videos recently have been the ultimate guide to Mame and i love it.

Another top quality production Kim. I have fond memories of booting up my Japanese edition of Ridge Racer on my Japanese PS1. Friends would pop over to play and try and beat each others lap times...good time!

Thank you Kim so much for all the hard work you do putting these together! I enjoy every minute of them. I was born in 90 and up until the late 90s I got my haircut at the same place. Back then it was common for places like that to buy cheap second hand arcade games. It had two games: Mrs. Pac-Man and Galaga. I absolutely loved Galaga. It also had one of those coin-op theaters that would play a 4 minute episode of Woody the Woodpecker.

Somehow i believe that Miyamoto took the "super mario bros" idea from Pac land and Pitfall, i mean, pitfall had the running and jumping alright but pacman was a character and was from an older arcade game, they took mario from Donkey Kong and made him a character in a world and was running and jumping

Wow! Love the compiled vids, Kim - something you might have mentioned during the Pac-Man section, is that Pac-Man is the inspiration for the emulator that became MAME. The creator wanted a 1:1 PERFECT emulation of Pac-Man at home. Anyways - great video (videos as well, into the bargain!).

Hang on a minute I've never played pacland with buttons! We had 6 arcades by mine and at least 3 of them had pacland and they all had joysticks, you pushed it forward 2-3 times and that sped you up. Mind blown you learn something new every day.

The Lensman sci fi series features Empire known as the Boskone (the main enemy faction), wonder if that influenced the name of the Bosconian

FYI, Ms. PAC-MAN wasn’t done with Namco’s blessing. Ms. PAC-MAN came out as a mod made on the original PAC-MAN card (as you said, a hack job). But this was done without Namco knowing about it. The reason the mod was done is because arcade operators were upset to pay so much royalties to Namco, and Namco didn’t want to renegotiate anything even in the face of so much success. As a result some guys came up to the operators with a mod of the original PCB. At first the operators didn’t pay a dime or royalties to Namco, and it became an issue because PAC-MAN revenues started stalling (as the PCB’s were altered to make Ms. PAC-MAN). As it became so popular so quickly, and it was indeed a very easy hack, Namco decided not to back-pedal / sue the modders. Instead, and this is where the story gets awfully weird, Namco licensed the mod and the brand (Ms. PAC-MAN) from the modders. To this day Namco still pay royalties to these guys, which is also why Ms. PAC-MAN was never refreshed and there is literally no Ms. PAC-MAN franchise development. The ‘with Namco’s blessings’ that you probably read online, was just the ‘saving face’ PR story that everyone agreed to propagate because Japanese culture. That story was told to me by the director of Arcade maintenance at Namco’s European arcade HQ in London.

in Navarone, you're able to travel up the sides of the screen. The aim is just to eliminate all the bombs and targets though, so there's not much to the depth outside of that.
