I am Shocked 4:30. Anna’s immediate thought is to drop Harry and pursue his brother. Her attitude toward Harry is disdainful and immature. She seems so shallow and a gossip where Phoebe is so genuine. I do hope she is redeemable but at this stage she is far from worthy of him. My favourite conversation 6:19:12 where Harry does not want to be called ‘my Lord’ because there is only One Lord. Harry is one of my favourite characters from your books. Beautiful ending. I enjoyed the mystery Jennie. It is much more interesting to have another story alongside the couple of main characters. Anna Dee your range of male and female voices and accents is extraordinary. There were so many characters. Well done.

I get it. This was one of my earlier books and also one that most people have the hardest time with. But to me Anna was real and yes - redeemable. She thought she wanted society and status and everything shallow. Yet in the first book she defended Eleanor and in this book she admitted she had read Hannah More (an author known for her pious work). She fought against the attraction because she was afraid it was not the life she wanted. But when she saw the difference between one brother who was broken and the other who was noble, her eyes were finally opened. She also showed forgiveness to the servant at the end who had stolen her jewels. She's just someone who is more multi-faceted and imperfect which can make her harder to love. (But then I should not be defending my characters as the author, ha ha. Of course your are perfectly entitled to your feelings regarding the characters).

I'm enjoying the story despite a few odd pronunciations (query when it should be quarry, cure-icle instead of curricle, for example). I suspect the narrator is American, but with a variety of decent British accents. Thank you for the entertainment. 🙂
@JennieGoutet Жыл бұрын
Yes she is, but I'm glad you find most of the accents acceptable. :-)

Thank you for responding. I've enjoyed several of your audiobooks recently. They make the miles fly by as I drive for my living. I would have loved to be a voice over artist. But I'm sure I have had my share of mispronunciations in my life, as well. Great job overall to you and your narrator. ❤

Hi Ericka, if you don't want to listen to audiobooks with ads, I believe you can sign up for KZbin Premium. There is also the option of getting these books from a library app, which I believe is free for you and does not contain ads. Sometimes my books are heavily reduced on Apple or Chirp. For instance, right now A Whimsical Notion is only .99 on Chirp and several of my other audiobooks are only $3.99 there. The only way it's worth it for me to give my books away for free is if I'm compensated in another form (like through ads). Writing is how I pay my bills. :-)
@goodintentions13029 ай бұрын
I think you'll enjoy them more by paying the writer directly for them. These versions are for those of us who appreciate that they are free, with ads. Not everyone has the financial resources to purchase each book that we so completey enjoy.

Goodness, Anna is the most unlikable heroine I've ever seen. She is immature, and people around her bend themselves in a twist to appease her. I find her utterly annoying. Harry keeps "seeing" something profound underneath the surface in her, and I keep wondering exactly what he is seeing.

I have to agree with you to an extent. Nearly halfway through, and she still seems a bit shallow and snobbish, but in the same vein she does show deeper insight in certain things and her care for her friend is genuine. I will keep the faith in aloof women for now and give her facade the benefit of the doubt, as it normally hides a soft and squishy centre 😉

I'm afraid this is the third heroine on this channel i dislike 😬

Jane Austen’s Emma is the same type of heroine, and indicative of era’s snobbish and elite.
