I like to play Stridebreaker as a first item on Briar, but I think it's because I like the "support" side that comes out of the slow, and I only play PvP with friends. (classic gank with W + A + active Stridebreaker) The problem is that with my rather cautious way of playing that seeks to support allies rather than kill enemies, it's difficult to reach 3300 golds. Watching your gameplay videos, I saw the power of Titanic Hydra once you managed to master the combo, I should practice it too.

Hey Logan , Hullbreaker also works on epic monsters. I think there is maybe a play around pta and resolve subtree , titanic ,boots, hull breaker ,b cleaver and then defensive items like spirits and deaths dance. Or maaaybe lethal tempo In a comp where you can go hp stacking safely it does give you plays around as a split pusher and with baron buffs briar becomes a monster to ignore who can kind of ult into fights for spooky sieges

@ I think I found the video. It was the phase rush Korean build. Yeah! I liked that build a lot. But phase rush loses a lot of damage from other keystones. I’d def like to try it with pta or lethal tempo.

When going HoB into squish teams as lane briar, serpents fang is often something I build before hubris into enchanter or just multiple shield teams. One of the most underrated items in the game imo. So cheap, massive power spike into any shielding enemy. Reducing 10k shields easy every game is crazy value.

Also honorable mention to voltaic. Generally I only build it as maybe 5-6th item on lethality if there is someone like a teemo I need to kill in 1 auto and w2. However, if you are midlane lethality briar, there are certain slippery champs you flat out cannot kill in lane. Hitting voltaic first can allow this and make it easier to snowball in lane. Would still probably rather just shove and roam for a double kill bot than change the build though. Catching that ahri is always going to be risky.

I feel like too many people want hexplate to be good but fail to see the flaw in how it interacts with briars R, Nocturn can get away with it because his R is very fast animation but Briar pretty much always loses more than half the activeation effect on hexplate due to the long animation time of firing the R + travel time. Its not uncommon for briar with hexplate to land an R and by the time she has landed the bonus AS and MS has already expired while she is flying in. Its "okay" if you are landing point blank Rs from out of vision or as follow up in a skirmish you are already in I guess ? thats pretty much the best value I can see on it.

They actually fixed this interaction a while ago, while it used to be this case, she now refreshes the buff when she flies into the target.

They did fix hexplate to activate the passive after your travel but all in all, it's just not top 10

Wit's end first has some good spots, but it's mainly for lane Briar. I'd argue this for mid, especially if they have AP jungle too. In the same vein when Aurora released I could effectively make the lane unloseable by going negatron and just tanking everything she did until I needed her dead. Remember that while you gain no AD, you do gain on-hit damage and AS, and AAs are your bread and butter, it adds up. Will say it was better before they decided to rework all the items, but it's still got value in the right situations. I am an avid fan of the Ravenous, genuinely wish it had better performance cause it feels so nice to use. It and stride both suffer immensely from Riot deciding you can't double up on hydra items, it'd love to pair it with titanic.

I see what you're saying, what ends up being a better version of going Wits first is just going the negatron clock > finishing a real first item then later completing the wits! But yeah Ravenous is def in a weird spot now agreed

Wits end passive stats are terrible. You are i vesting early into a low dmg passive that scales with attack speed you don’t have yet, into teams that havent fully leveled their cc yet for the tenacity to do anything. One game I was 4-0 in midlane and went wit’s first because they were a full ap team. I will never make that mistake again. Felt like a wet noodle and I had half an item more than everyone else plus a level lead.

The DMG is noticeable, less than titanic but the CDR allows for out plays that are not possible otherwise and ppl can't calculate when you have CDs, it is a niche path tho. You should really reconsider your hard stance on it

But to be clear my opinion is based on the damage calculations done in practice tool and the game designer of Briar explaining it to me! ​@@TKT631 we don't have the same vision, with heartsteal ur job is to be at the front of the fight or peeling. It's not about snowballing, it's more for late game 5k hp and since you transition to bruiser build after heartsteal you still do damage. Just need patience

I just discovered the Channel, I have cool clips if ever but yeah it takes time to pop off, it Can go from being normal to be unkillable in 1vs5 (i'm prolly really biased considering the elo I play in) I think it's just really funny as a smurf thing, cause you scale really hard with HP items that heals considering the passive

Try Briar top lane with Grasp, demolish, conditioning/second wind, revitalise, gathering storm and trancendence with scaling health shards and ability haste. Start dorans shield and play safeish with e max. Rush heartsteel and sundered sky second with unending despair and spirit visage and for your last item a situational tank item and if there are no clear strong options bulid a heal and shield power item. Gathering storm and Sundered sky help with waveclear. Your passive makes you heal more the lower your health is so in lane avoid abilities at high health and take ''bad trades'' with grasp, use abilities at low health. This is a scaling bulid you powerspike 3 items. In lane vs bramble vest wq minions to target them to avoid anti heal and deal damage to laner with aoe autos and recast w on minions to heal when you kill the minions insta e the laner not to hit his bramble. Vs other anti heal items try not to fight at all or try jump on them before they hit you I.e wqw e, as they are stuned you bite and when stun ends they deal no damage as you have 35% damage reduction so you gained health despite being anti healed. Late game you forget you are anti healed as the passive reaches around 150% heal amp. The most I saw in a game was 260% heal amp.
