A really delightful review of ElfQuest, Austin! We're so glad you decided to pick up The Complete ElfQuest Vol 1 and hope you keep on reading the whole series.

Hello Austin, thank you for getting me into this looking fantastic comic! A question still: are all the volumes in B&W? Thanks for your reply. Cheers from Belgium.

Thanks for reaching out! Yes all of the “Complete” Elfquest books are in B&W. The newer volumes are more so “grayscale” because of the vibrant shading used in the recent comics. I assume they are this way for consistency. The original 1970’s Elfquest were entirely in B&W until Marvel comics reprinted them in the mid 80’s. If you want the newer issues in color I would recommend picking up the trade paperbacks that are not labeled “Complete”. Either way it’s all Elfquest, all good stuff. 👍

@@austin_the_brimstone Thanks so much for your answer. I'd prefer B&W or the original coloring but, for this theme, I think B&W is best.

I didn’t know this series existed until I saw a few single volumes of it at a thrift store recently. I thought I’d watch some reviews because it looked intriguing. You’ve made it sound so amazing! I’m definitely going to give it a shot 😻

Glad you liked it! Oh don’t worry I’ve got STACKS of old sci-fi/fantasy comics and books. I’ll be making these reviews….well probably forever!

I grew up reading the full colored comics. Black and white is a deal breaker for me.

The colors do pop, and I agree that a full-color release would be awesome. I’d double-dip for sure.

I like both , I still have the OG Colour Graphic novels from the early 90s, Before them I read some of the Black and White issues.

I wish I could afford the colour volumes!but love the black and white as well,as all the exquisite detail is not obscured by the colours.some i have, the colour is so dence that detais are kind if hidden.tgw marvel comices are great.

Yeah I tried to buy some of the color volumes but they’re pricey! A fun way to read Elfquest in color is to collect the 1980’s Marvel comics reprints. Not only are they in color but you get tons of lovely retro advertisements too.

I've been getting into Elfquest again but have been having trouble. I have the first 3 novels (not comics of graphic novels) that follow Cutter and his tribe. I've been trying to see if there's a book after "Captives of Blue Mountain" but it's hard to find concrete answers. Does anyone know if there are more 'words on paper' novels rather than the graphic novels?

The only Elfquest novel I’m familiar with is “Journey to Sorrows’ End”. It’s a retelling of the first few books but much more detailed. (Since it’s a novel and not a comic.) Funnily enough it was published by Playboy Magazine who was trying to break into the young-adult book market.
