Most down to earth explanation I’ve found so far, I love you. I will watch every video about serum you’ll post. Reeeeeeaaaallly curious how you gonna organic the automation and combine your three elements to explain how to achieve specific sounds. Anybody interested to make a map in a diagram- fashion (like a tree diagram) to show how classic used sounds are made?

You do you boo! It’s a shame people have to check (censor) themselves in this day and age. Imagine hip hop in 10 years with this removal of expression. Lyrics from toddler shows will be the next big thing. Sad states yo!

6:15 It's amazing that the key tracks actually apply different filters to different pitches even if they are played simultaneously. That shows a real attention to details engineering-wise.

Ok can I just really applaud the way you describe certain things. Like, the way you described how filters work and compared them to a bouncer at a party, that goes a really long way to help people like myself who happen to be on the autism spectrum make sense of this stuff and it's super helpful. Incredible stuff man!

MG must be Moog ("ladder" type) filter, which is the specific analog circuit used, and sounds different than a regular filter (darker I believe?). The 6/12/18/24 numbers are the decibels that are attenuated per octave (of frequencies), so a 12 dB filter will reduce those higher frequencies half as much as a 24 dB filter. They are also referred to as "two pole" and "four pole" (and I guess 6 dB is "single pole"). Basically the slope is a measure of how much of the higher harmonic content is "subtracted" from the signal. That's why it's called subtractive synthesis, because the oscillators make all the harmonics, then the filter subtracts the ones you don't want.

Band reject is the opposite of band pass. Seems similar to what in guitars is called "scooped mids" (more low and high frequencies, less mid range) which is used a lot in metal.

Love this series. One friendly criticism: sometimes you speak too quickly about things. That's cool for people who know, but for people who are starting out it's easier to learn if there's a bit of breathing room to digest.
