While the History of Magic may be a boring subject for the students of Professor Binns’ class, the history of the wizarding world is one that’s long, complicated, and incredibly interesting! From the day that Hogwarts was created to Newt and his Niffler adventures against Grindelwald and even Tom Riddle’s birth, a lot had to happen to make our main guy the ‘Chosen One’. Heck, a lot had to happen to have Lily and James Potter marry - namely, James had to learn to calm down some and stop showing off his quidditch skills using that little snitch he stole.
But, thanks to Albus Dumbeldore’s cunning, Severus Snape’s love-that's-borderline-obsession, and Sybill Trelawney’s prophecy, everything managed to unfold perfectly, allowing the events of the seven books (and 8 movies!) to happen just as we know and love it.
Sure, some of these events aren’t great and were tragic (I mean, Moaning Myrtle died all because Salazar Slytherin couldn’t get along with Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Godric Gryffindor long enough to think that maybe Muggleborns aren’t so bad after all. And Ariana wouldn’t have had to die if her family just learned how to communicate properly) but it was all necessary to lead the Dark Lord to Godric's Hollow on that fateful Halloween night.
And here they are - at least, the key elements. If we went into every small detail (like Sirius Black’s childhood or Remus Lupin’s parents) we’d be here forever! So, instead, let’s focus on the lives of Dumbledore, Grindelwald, Hogwarts, and the journey of the Marauder’s to see how all the key players in the prophecy came to be at the giant chessboard.

The timeline was fucked on the highway to hell when they showed Minerva McGonagall alive in 1927 and then showed her alive in a flashback from the 1910s when she wasn't born until 1934

@@gamerstheater1187 no it wasnt her mother. the screenplay credits made sure to let us know it was Minerva McGonagall. In the books, umbride asked mcgonagall how long she has been teaching at hogwarts. She said it would be 39 years that december. Therefore 1995-39= 1956 This literally means she started working at hogwarts in 1956, therefore, even if her birthdate which is believed to be 1934-1935 by most fans wasnt this, she still couldnt be teaching in 1927 if she joined hogwarts in 1956. Also, she was taught by dumbledore. Therefore, considering dumbledore was born in 1881, and became a teacher at hogwarts in the 1920s. He was said to have started teaching transfiguration in 1927. So technically, minerva being taught transfiguration by him means she still couldnt have been in the role we see her in that memory which was around 1910 because dumbledore was teaching at hogwarts before her. Also, even if we claimed her birth did make sense to be before the accepted date, it still doesnt make sense since she was taught by dumbledore so minimum 1927 is her date of finishing hogwarts and she worked at the ministry for 2 years before joining hogwarts so it is impossible for her to work at hogwarts in 1927 considering she didnt graduate and start working there straight away. It is a mistake in the timeline that cant be denied.

@@tom-nb7dk also, she was hired by dumbledore which makes sense because he became headmaster after being transfiguration teacher so mcgonagall filled that empty space. Dumbledore became headmaster about 30 years after becoming transfiguration teacher which makes total sense because it would land on 1957. We already accept based on mcgonagall's words to umbridge that she was at hogwarts around 1956 but maybe she meant the next december which would land bang on 1957. It also makes sense because she had said before that she didnt teach tom riddle which wouldnt make sense if she was teaching at hogwarts at the time of that flashback anyway.

Correct, he made a mistake. In the first HP movie it's mentioned that Hogwarts was founded 1000 years ago, so I think he meant to say 990 AD not 990 BC

That should be 990 CE not BCE. BCE is "Before Common Era" so that would be the same as BC so 990 years before the start of the common era or year 1 by the Julian calander.
