One of the Deep South guys who was there at the time shared the Kenny ass story on twitter recently and it did hella RTs lol. He said Kenny did a 20 min match working on the guy's rear end, and only the rear end, and then won with an atomic drop. When he came back through the curtains a flabbergasted Demott asked Kenny "so what bodypart did you work on" and Kenny yelled "THE ASS BILL" and the whole place busted into tears lmao. The guy who tweeted it said this is why Kenneth Jerome is a legend.

Gotta respect Kenny for getting back at a bully like Demott in the funniest way. And the wrestling world is better for it. Had Kenny listened to Demott's stupid advice, he wouldn't have kept his explosive style, wouldn't have become one of the biggest wrestling stars in Japan and wouldn't have helped start AEW.

Two things about this that were incorrect. Kennedy never wrestled in Deep South Wrestling, and Austin Creed was not in developmental when he was the DSW Champion, this was after Jody Hamilton restarted DSW after WWE pulled stumps

I did photography and website work for them. This brought back a lot of great memories. How could you forget The Great Khali? Also, the former Austin Creed as DSW happened after WWE left. He was the first of the new champions. You used my pic in the video, which brought a smile to my face.

For it only lasting two years, they sure got a lot of notable names in the door, or included them in some regard. I've got to applaud the level of pettiness for Omega, but he did do what DeMott asked of him. A lot of potential squandered by a variety of workspace issues, it seems.

Not only that, but re-hiring the guy that let go Kenny Omega (who was, at that point, a rising star as one half of the Golden Lovers). If WWE can't fit you into their mould, then you could be the best wrestler in the world and they wouldn't give a damn.

What I find interesting with DSW is it very much became the end of “old school”. Wrestlers spoke up about garbage treatment which built to the speaking out movement. Wrestlers invested in themselves like Kofi, Cardona, and Omega not letting the machine push them around. Much of the revolt of talent in WWE, tired of the status quo, today was started in the embers of DSW and OVW built upon by the now trope of poor NXT call ups. Talent is genuinely sick of being mismanaged and it’s biting WWE very hard in the Kenny Omega worked body part 😋.

I'll be honest, I really don't like Kenny Omega but his response to DeMott telling him to focus on a body part for the match and he spent most of it literally kicking the guy's arse is some pretty fucking funny stuff so have to give him props for that. It's unprofessional in the same sense as Shawn Michaels was against Hogan at SummerSlam but that was damn funny too.

As the play by play host of DSW for all episodes , I found this to be somewhat accurate . Austin Creed / Xavier Woods was made champion after Deep South closed down and a tournament was held several months later . Bill Behrens wasn’t there the entire time , in fact I believe he was there maybe 2 tapings or less before parting ways with the company , so that’s way off . Nattie Neidhart, Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly , Krystal Marshall , Krissy Vaine were among the women who held WWE championship gold or either appeared on WWE TV. Angel Williams aka Angelina Love also had a very long run with Impact. Shantelle Taylor aka Taylor Wilde also went on to have a great career in Impact as their Champion and Women’s Tag Team Champion , the same for love . There were notable matches for DSW such as MVP vs Ric Flair , RVD vs The Big Show for the ECW Championship, Bobby Lashley vs Booker T for the US Championship and many others at events Deep South had . Many appearances by William Regal were a treat . “Squire” Dave Taylor was also a trainer at Deep South which isn’t mentioned , WWE Hall of Famer Robert Gibson was also a trainer for a short while , Chris Benoit would train a lot as well but not officially a trainer sent by WWE . Flash Funk , Gangrel and Henry Gowin and Big Vito (who also was DSW Champ at one point ) all made appearances as well via WWE sending them down . The video production was handled by Neal Pruitt aka “The Voice of the nWo” who was known for that role and his terrific work for WCW . TJ Wilson and Harry Smith along with Nattie were also A DSW Team . Deuce and Domino with Cherry also made several appearances , even held the DSW Tag Team Championships. The Great Khali Mike Knox , Johnny Curtis aka Fandango, Ray Gordy , G-Rilla aka Tyrus ,Matt Striker , Heath Miller aka Heath Slater , Oleg Prudius all had varying success on WWE as well . As for myself , I later was picked up to host MTV’s Masked Warriors , worked behind the scenes at Impact and was an associate producer for Women of Wrestling on AXS TV. Currently an announcer / road manager for the Harlem Globetrotters . Hope these notes were helpful, I’m sure there was someone left out but these are what came to memory .

@@bloodlusthunter382 sure…it was “good”…for a wwe product. But all it was was PWG, ROH, NJPW, TNA, every other indie…but with a wwe corporate backing. I got the wwe network as soon as it came out…and kept it for a few years…I NEVER watched nxt. Sure, I “heard it was good,” a bunch of indie talent and guys from other promotions. All nxt was, was a means to hold back NJPW and ROH who were on fire at the time. LUCHA UNDERGROUND was the “real alternative” in professional wrestling. Nxt was the HOT TOPIC of professional wrestling. Just saying.

I remember watching one episode of DSW TV way back when out of morbid curiosity. Not only is the production value wretched, everything else is too. The area looked like someone tried to turn it into the world's largest Lite Brite and the DSW signs that hung over the entrance ramp and along the walls looked like they were drawn on poster board by a toddler with a box of crayons. The NXT performance center this certainly was not.
