When I attended SDCC in 1991, there were promotional buttons for Ralph Bakshi's Cool World and I'm sure there were other movies that also used promo buttons in the following years, possibly years before, but I didn't attend again until 1994. Terry Zwigoff's Crumb documentary was screened there (I attended) and also Kevin Smith's Mallrats. There was another movie but my memory can't recall what it was. The main floor on Saturday afternoon was packed and the foot traffic slowed to a crawl.

Love history of early fandom and cons. The year I went (2005) I met a bunch of Fantagraphics and D & Q artists as well as Kyle Baker for the first time. It was before the MCU mania. David Cronenberg was there too

Thanks again, guys!❤🎯😎👍 I love the history of comics, the nuts& bolts (pun definitely intended) the upside and the unfortunate down side! San Diego Comic Con in the beginning is absolutely magic and in at least in my opinion as devolved into a humongous media train wreck that treats creative comic making /reading as third prize! No disrespect to anyone who loves SDCC! Keep reading and making comics 🤪🎯😎👍!!
