So do I. I find reading difficult to do not because I can't read but I was never someone who enjoyed reading & not brought up with many books. I really like listening to David Suchett who reads the Bible so well, with meaning, care & has such a soothing voice to listen to. Thank you so much for doing this for us & being led by God.

This reading is one of my favorites, and I just love David Suchet's voice (I watched a lot of shows he was in and loved his acting as well). Getting God's Word is necessary for us to be examples in this world of how we are to live and act. We live here, but we are not of this world, if I could only have 1 book for the rest of my life, it would be the Bible. God has put us here on Earth, and there is something that we have to give to the world that only we can, the way you do it is like no other. Never compete, there is no need to (comparison is the thief of all joy). Never forget God loves you no matter what has happened in your past (ask for forgiveness and He will give it to you)...He Loves You and so do I.

Not orthodoxy but one of the earliest Christian heretics was a priest named Marcion who had a similar question of why were the OT and NT gods so different. He thought it was because they were 2 completely separate gods, the creator god in Genesis an angry, vengeful god obsessed with the law and Jesus as a new, loving peaceful god. He was branded a heretic but his teaching was very popular in the 2nd century. If you want an academic book on the problem of suffering in the bible read "God's Problem" by Bart Ehrman. If you want to read something to strengthen your faith, read the book of Ecclesiastes. Or listen to it, David's reading of it in this series is particularly excellent. God bless
@rollmops3113 Жыл бұрын
@@Spamlett thankyou for your reply! Yes, God does seem very different in the OT and the NT on the surface. I want to be able to understand Him for myself, and also so I can be a good defender of the faith to critics. I'll have a look into it, and yes, I think Ecclesiastes will be uplifting☺️ thankyou, God bless ☺️

Listen to Michael Heiser and you will understand. Don't forget also that God sees the past, present and future, and so is the master strategist. Consider for example that some of the people who were not wiped out are alive today, or at least their gods are.
