Quick Summary of the book of Ezra:
After 70 years of captivity in a foreign land, the people of Judah are allowed to return to their homeland to rebuild. A descendant of David named Zerubbabel, together with some priests, begins to rebuild the temple. Political opposition to the rebuilding forces a halt in construction for about 15 years. But then the work continues, encouraged by two prophets, Haggai and Zechariah. About 57 years after the temple is completed, Ezra the scribe arrives in Jerusalem, bringing with him about 2,000 people, including priests and Levites to serve in the temple. Ezra finds that the people living in Judah have lapsed into sin, and he calls the people to repentance and a return to the law of God.

I love how this book tallies directly with Nehemia, and how those interfering, envious, cynical stiff necks get well & truly blasted from a kimg whose heart was miraculously turned in favour towards the Israelites. Praise God

Thank you Lord. You have done everything to warn us. We are paying even less attention than the people of Ezra's time. How it must break Your heart that even after coming to earth, walking among us, teaching us directly face to face, even after suffering and dying on the cross, we still don't get it. Your only choice is to allow America to be lost. Oh the horror that is coming our way. Dear Lord, I am so sorry for my sin sick ways, my contribution to the end of this great gift You have given me and the whole world. Thank you David Suchet for making this recording. May God have mercy on us all. In Jesus Name.

📜 Ezra chapter one: Cyrus, king of Persia, is moved by the Lord to allow the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. 🏗 Ezra chapter two: Lists the people who returned from exile and participated in rebuilding the temple. 🛠 Ezra chapter three: Rebuilding of the temple begins, despite opposition and fear from surrounding peoples. 🚧 Ezra chapter four: Enemies of Judah and Benjamin attempt to hinder temple construction, appealing to various Persian kings. 🏛 Ezra chapter five: The rebuilding continues after an investigation confirms Cyrus's decree. 🎉 Ezra chapter six: King Darius reaffirms Cyrus's decree, leading to the completion and dedication of the temple. 📜 Ezra chapter seven: Ezra, a scribe and teacher of the Law, is granted permission by King Artaxerxes to go to Jerusalem and enforce the Law. 📜 Ezra appoints magistrates and judges to administer justice according to God's laws. 🙏 Ezra assembles leaders and exiles from Babylon to return to Jerusalem during the reign of King Artaxerxes. ⚖ Leaders and Levites are selected to oversee the separation of those who married foreign women from the Israelites.
