Bojack and Mr. Peanutbutter have one big thing in common. They both have a tendency to think that the world operates according to sitcom rules. They think a wacky scheme or a grand gesture will wrap things up neatly. But the real world just doesn't operate like that and when they try to make it work that way they inevitably fail.

I always loved how the finale showed that Mr. Peanutbutter's flaws aren't completely fixed. He's more self-aware and is generally improving as a person, but he's still inattentive. He doesn't really pay attention to BoJack's discomfort at the press event and he still abandons him at the wedding. But he's trying. He's kind enough to pick up BoJack from prison, sacrifice his preferred eating spot, and buy him a suit. I think Mr. Peanutbutter's final moments really reinforce the show's messages in a smart and surprisingly funny way.

And Todd, even though he's not Bojack's "bestie" anymore, noted Bojack's discomfort at the wedding, asked if he wanted to get some fresh air, and gave him sincere encouragement in his journey to get sober. He will always be Bojack's friend, but from a distance.

A neat thing I noticed about the Cabracadabra plot the other day: Todd and PB ruining the company’s mission by opening it up to sketchy men only happened after Emily (who presumably would object to adding men at all) left the company, which happened because Bojack made her feel uncomfortable. Really neat way, imo, to show the ripple effects that Bojack’s toxic actions have: he made a woman feel uncomfortable, thus pushing her out of the space *she* helped create, and leaving only men who clearly don’t understand the importance of a safe space for women in the first place at the helm. A small instance, for sure, but one that brilliantly illustrates how women get pushed out of professional fields all the time.

If a service made custom tear-proof pants made so sliding across a field doesn't hurt and it was marketed to baseball players, who play on sand and are more likely to get injured doing it, would you say they were discriminating against soccer players just because soccer players sometimes slide tackle on grass?

But at that point Bojack was at his highpoint and still hated PB even tho they were almost the same, with the difference being Bojack just couldn't be happy with what he had. Then when PB got depressed after his brother got diagnosed, as well as the breakup of him and Diane, I saw his flaws. If Bojack had such bad consecuences for being an asshole and it's the kind of person who deserves backlash. I think PB deserves it too. I fell asleep as I was watching this video the other night. Your analysis is always spot on, but you’ve gotta stop dissing your face. 😉

YES! I’ve been waiting for this topic! My favorite character! My dad, Friends/Girlfriend say I’m a literal copy of Mr Peanut Butter…I don’t know if I should be honored or sad about that? lol. ..Mostly Depressed.. lol

Back in the 90s, I was in a very famous T.V show! I'm Mr. Peanutbutter! Oh Yeah! Oh Yeah! Now tell how can I get no vote?

PB is one of my favorites, I see myself in him so much when it comes to flexibility in life. There’s been many times where things were just given to me or I was just in peoples favor for seemingly no reason. I’m glad he also got to grow as a person

"Wohoah BONES!" 😂 I forgot about Mister Peanutbutter's favorite show.
@chickadeestevenson54402 жыл бұрын
amusingly... Mr. PB seems to just work with Polyam better. Maybe once he finished working with himself he could find another lab or golden or other retriever his age (because retreiver energy) who's also cool with an open relationship.
@twistedmind3323 Жыл бұрын
Maybe, I didn't read him as polyam so much as someone who keeps dating a type of person he's pretty incompatible with. That's an interesting way to look at it though.

I watched BoJack dubbed and just now I understand the 'D' joke... really wish we had more time to see PB growing I feel that when we finally were beginning to see something it was cut short

There were so many jokes I only got after I watched the original dub, you should try it!

In my opinion the worst character, Bojack was toxic but he admitted it. Mr peanut did things knowing etc Diane didn’t like it and played the victim when she got upset and that’s not fair, I think he would gaslight you and make you value yourself n just stupid
@AsdfAsdf-mi6ks3 жыл бұрын
I don’t think he intentionally tried to gaslight her tho. He was just kinda stupid…. And insensitive
@ge0rgialiv3 жыл бұрын
@@AsdfAsdf-mi6ks I agree but certainly was like ‘sorry I so nice things, of surprise my wife’ after knowing she don’t like it that’s messed up
@AsdfAsdf-mi6ks3 жыл бұрын
@@ge0rgialiv ah yeah. No I gotcha. Also watching this timeline, I totally forgot that he yells at her about having a shitty family even tho she was just expressing concern. And I’m pretty sure he never apologized for it…..
@ge0rgialiv3 жыл бұрын
@@AsdfAsdf-mi6ks yeah that was really shitty too, well for remembering that.

I really wish we got more about Mister’s history and stuff. The stuff with his brother got really good and I wanted more, how his parents dying (or in his mind leaving to the farm) effected such a positive character, I wish he was single for longer in the show so we could see that dynamic. I wish he wasn’t just used for humor but, like Todd, I wish his character was more fleshed out

Its subtly funny how pet-owners adopt multiple animals throughout their life, for example dog after dog in order to overcome the heartbreak of losing a pet, and in this show Mister Peanutbutter has multiple marriages and relationships in quick succession..

I love how Mr. Peanutbutter's House was originally referred to as "Untitled Horsin' Around Rip-off." Even though the show was a rip-off, Mr. Peanutbutter brought a unique flair to it.
