I think in Wormtail’s case, he got the Dark Mark after he gave Voldemort the information on the Potter’s whereabouts. He was pleased by it, gave him the mark, then went after the Potters.

I think Voldemort thought the only recourse with Snape was to kill him because he saw anyone who had obtained control of the Elder Wand as a threat to his power. If Snape was once strong enough to gain control of the wand, then surely he wasn't someone Voldemort would want around.

People overlook that Wormtail was feeding Voldemort information for over a year before the Potters went into hiding. He most likely received the mark during that time. He was basically in Snape's role during the first wizarding war

I guess my thought on wormtails dark mark was he got it in the first wizarding war. During the time Voldemort was still manipulative rather than forceful, so when he heard the prophecy and the potters went into hiding voldie would have tried to find where they were finding. He would have made wormtail believe he was safe by giving him the mark, securing worktails safety and so wormtail would reveal the potters. Yeah so I see the mark as been given more of a manipulative basis to make it even easier for wormtail to rat out his friends. By being given the mark it would appear that wormtail is untouchable by any of his former comrades (just with voldie being so feared during this time, he was considered invincible)

I like that you addressed the Peter Pettigrew thing. I always thought as Peter joined Voldemort a year before he betrayed James and Lily, it would have been a bit of a giveaway to them if he had a Dark Mark on his arm. So I agree with you that he could only have got it after that point.

I think the dark mark is how Peter was able to convince James and Sirius to trust him as secret keeper and a backup if he proved to be as untrustworthy as he was much like the silver hand that killed him. I suspect that Pettigrew received the dark mark after he narrowly escaped the cluches of Harry and Sirius, when Remus surcame to his curse of lycanthropy, and found a weakened Voldemort hiding in the Dark Forest. Bellatrix, one of his most devout servants, was often kept at arms length by Voldemort. Her unstable personality made him often use her for missions where the potential for death was high. But even in her lunacy, Bellatrix was quite resourceful and cunning. But the history of members of her family (Sirius, Regulus, Andromeda, and even Narcissa) not embracing their blood purity gave him pause in her regard.

I agree with you. Not only that, but Pettigrew also sacrificed his hand for Voldemort.....and he HAD to be sanctified by Voldemort to be "worthy" to sacrifice his hand. If Pettigrew had not been "sanctified" by Voldemort, I don't believe things would have turned out as good for Voldemort. Kind of like a pure lamb, or sacrifice ritualistically speaking.

I honestly think it makes sense that Pettigrew got the mark, whilst Fennir didn’t. Like the Nazis or KKk, Voldemort’s followers didn’t have to be the best, just the right “blood” purity. They thought themselves the best. I’ve said this before with HP videos, but look at the Nazi leadership. They prized fitness, “racial purity” and other such nonsense. Yet most of them were on drugs, overweight (or extremely skinny”), had physical disabilities or had sexual orientations not supported by the nazis. I see Pettigrew's inclusion via the Dark Mark as proof of his weakness in be betrayal the Potters. The Dark Mark would have only been an everpresent reminder to Wormtail of which side he picked and why. Voldy would have reveled in Wormtails constant humiliation at the reminder of his weakness. I think Wormtail got the mark when he shortly after his revelation of the Potters secret-keeper.

I think that you're right about Peter Pettigrew getting the dark mark after the events of the 3rd book. Prior to then he was very definitely unworthy, but by finding, and caring for Voldemort he was given the mark so that Voldemort could keep an eye on him. Peter was not trusted at all , and so by using the mark Voldemort could summon him, and control him.

I know you're not doing "the life of series", but it was really good! you got into some obscure characters that I had no idea about. maybe do a history of where you just go down family tree in depth so its not just about the singular character. I know you've done some family tree lines, but it lightly touches on each family member.
