Assuming everything that's been deduced thus far is correct, do you think Sephiroth could theoretically have "traveled" back to ANY point in time? Him choosing the onset of FFVII as his destination certainly makes sense, but do we think there is anything beyond utility (both in universe and out) that informed the choice?

Loveless seems to be very important. That said, it is mentioned that there are many interpretations to the fifth act. Does this mean multiple endings, or a more ambiguous ending than the original? Also, Genesis's design was used for ff record keeper last year, they could be setting up for return. What do you think?

Norse Mythology talks a lot about the Death and Rebirth of worlds... but there's one other interpretation: Death and Rebirth of Time... of Fate. When I think of Final Fantasy games most heavily influenced by Norse Mythology, the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy comes foremost to my mind. "Defiers of Fate", "Ragnarok", to surpass one's "Focus" and no longer be bound to the Gods or those who claim to control Fate. The Eyes of Etro that can see Death and can see Fate, at a great cost. A "Savior" crafted to surpass the Goddess of Death, and Chaos, a power that surpasses Time and Space. Much of Final Fantasy (to me) has been about breaking a "Cycle of Time" (New Game Plus... the 2000 year cycle Garland laments his fate is bound to). To break the chains of destiny, to prevent events from repeating, to make the "Fantasy" a "Final" one.

To me, loveless is a story of the final fantasy series itself. You notice that every game occurs in a different point in history, but have a similar arc to them. This could be the 2000 year cycle reoccurring. Take FF 6 for example. Terra is a member of an ancient race that is linked with Espers, which are summons, and Kefka destroys the world by moving the three summoners (or fayths) contained in the statues that are literally "dreaming" the world. Each game follows a similar story arc, but uses different words for the ancients and the summons, because they happen in different cultures, even sometimes on different planets. They are all in the same universe with the same metaphysics.

I remember the ending of the last part of the FF XIII. That their world dies and they kill what is suposed to be some god or something and then they forge a lifeforce akin to the lifestream from the souls of the people and travel to a new planet (that happens to be our earth). kinda like the Weapons from Dirge of cerberous are suposed to do.

I will admit that I don't have a wide spread knowledge of FF as a whole, but there are things such as the King Behemoth that comes to mind as recurring elements. so although I don't have that knowledge, I come across it a lot in my research. That some patterns are not FF7 exclusive, but range from the entire series of FF as a whole. These ones can be frustrating at times because you think your onto something but then just find out that its more of a nod to other FF games. Maybe a video on that 20 years down the line when I am done talking about FF7 and Remake and have absorbed the other games? I will say that as something to contribute to what your saying. in the original FF7 there were documents describing Three Priests, which seems to mirror what you said about FF6. I would not be suprised that going from here into other FF games I will have a huge amount of time to myself wondering what connections to the others are. This comment is definitely a good starting point for that. Thank you very much for this comment, sorry it took my so long to get to it, but I really enjoyed reading it and appreciate you taking the time to make it!

I like a lot of what is in your videos, but I think it is important to remember that the entire Cetra scene in the Shinra VR was created by Shinra to show to tourist. It's propaganda that is attempting to link the ideology of Shinra to that of of the Cetra. There is absolutely no reason to assume that there were ever 8 random stone pillars around a Cetra city that just so happened to be where Midgar and it's 8 reactors are. It's an allusion. There is a lot to unpack in that Cetra VR, but a lot of what is there to unpack is how amazingly well Square did at creating Corporate PR/propaganda in a way very similar companies like BP/Valero/Shell/Exxon have in the past. I am not saying you are totally off base, but you have to keep in mind that characters and concepts like Shinra work because we know they have a public and private face.

Not in my mind, no it is not. I think that its these elements that associate to what Minerva (the will of the lifestream) is controlling to manipulate those to her advantage, in the same way Jenova manipulates those with her cells. These entities to me seem to operate similarly even though depicted on opposite sides. Which is what I find the most interesting about the dynamic that seems to be appearing in Remake and the Compilation! Thank you for watching Jordan!

When translated to English, they didn't know this and changed it to Aeris, but it was always meant to mean Earth... Gaia, livestream, etc.

Hey Sleepezi, hope you been well. Been talking about theories and such with my friends and we joking came up with a different name to use instead of Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 (Sometimes too long to say when talking). We started using the name MakoVerse. As Mako is only used in Final Fantasy 7 series. But also the name implies the Lifestream so it sort of just fit when we talked now. Just wanted to throw it out into the community and see if it sticks XD

This is where you lost me...if the cycle is supposed to play out the same no matter what happens then what is the point of Minerva sending Aerith messages? What is the difference between her being clueless like in OG and her having knowledge like in Remake? What even are the stakes? This theory seems to have none. Aerith still dies. Humanity still dies. The cycle starts over. What is my incentive to follow the story of these alternative timeline characters and their struggles if there is no stake I can put on them changing at least humanity’s destiny? Or at least Aerith’s? Nostalgia? Sorry but this part lost me...

I knew that after making this particular video that people would be torn on the idea that "why would you set up everything to be something new, and take it away." Part 1: mentions Sephiroth breaking away from destiny. (there is a reason I didn't bring him up in part 3 really. and what his role is now.) Part 2: is meant to give us more context for the structure of what that destiny is. and Part 3: is meant to cover that this structure cannot simply be broken just by the defeat of the harbinger. I think that there are things still left to discuss this. I understand the way it is presented in the video is to try and ease peoples minds about massive changes: but the way I see it is, and part 4 will hopefully take care of this, is that Remake will settle in the middle somewhere. Different, but the same. So don't take this as the final nail in the coffin on my opinion of an unchanging destiny. there will be more to talk about. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch this, I appreciate the time you have taken to write this out, and express your dislike for the way that things are. but know that this isn't the end of this discussion, and there is a load more to talk about. I planned on making this a 2 hour video, so think of the next video as a way of concluding more of the ideas brought up in this video. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Sleepezi it’s not that I dislike your video or theories I liked the majority of everything I just was stating that as narratives go IF this was the last part I’d say that this would be bad story telling just because of the reasons in my previous comment. Stakes are very important in a story and the way this was presented I was trying to understand what they could be or if there were any basically by ranting about it in a comment. I’m still curious to see what is next and I’m curious to see where they go next and how correct you are with your theories because most seem plausible and well thought out!

@@Sleepezi If I've understood correctly, I'm completely onboard with the repeating cycle. However to be more specific, the Harbinger was the most direct influence/cause of that. With him removed, that 'method' of identical cycle repetition is now defeated. So things CAN happen differently now. HOWEVER, even without Harbinger the planet is still eventually destined to die/burn and be reborn. BUT the way that this happens can be different now. Does it need to be due to Meteor? Not necessarily. Either way this would be a great direction for the story because who is the ultimate villain here? Minerva who wants the planet to burn and reset the cycle, or Sephiroth who wants to break this cycle and save the planet from burning? Could this be the basis of Sephiroth's redemption arc?

@@SkilledLegend No I agree with you, and think you've brought up several great points here in your comment. I don't think this points out weak analysis on Sleepezi's part, but weak WRITING from the FF7 writing and direction team. I hate what the remake did, personally, (and to a lesser extent the Compilation) but Sleepezi's analysis is really good at exposing and dissecting the deeper implications of the writers' lore references, even though they're conveyed incredibly poor through the actual narrative beats of the games and movie.

I think the connections make sense, and I like your interpretation of Aerith as Minerva's puppet and Cloud as Sephiroth's puppet. I don't really know Minerva at all because I don't play anything else in the compilation, but I feel like they have to address Minerva in remake if any of this is going to come to pass. Maybe a Minerva x Sephiroth showdown. Who knows? But I don't believe that the remake is going to play out exactly as what it did in the original. I think it will play out similarly, and have similar outcomes, but Aerith might not be the one to die, Sephiroth might not be the final boss and we might get a lot more story-relevant actions out of Yuffie / Vincent as well as the Turks / Rufus. I actually think your world rebirth theory is correct - the Cetra were destroyed all those years ago and the world reborn. But the cetra themselves lived in ruins of a civilization that predated them as well. These ruins continue to accumulate over time, each one getting sunk underwater and going deeper into the earth. The city that was below the city of the ancients - that was from a civilization that predated the cetra. I have a theory that the Midgar we seek in remake, is a rebirth of the Midgar we see in the original. Think about it - there are substantial differences to the new Midgar. People now have smartphones instead of trash PHS. VR is now a thing. Technology has advanced way beyond that of original Midgar. I think that the remake is a direct sequel to the OG. After the events of OG / Dirge, I think the planet did restart, and the world of remake was born, with Midgar rebuilt just like what happened in the past. Except this time, knowledge from the past times meant that technological advancements were quicker, so Midgar is a lot more advanced right now than it was in the past. Sephiroth never traveled back in time, time just kept going - or really, "repeating" itself - and is now trying to change things in this new cycle. In short, we had the Alexander City (City predating Cetra) -> Forgotten City (Cetra) -> Midgar I (Humans - Original) -> Midgar II (Humans - Remake) -> and possibly Neo Midgar in the future. Each has its own cycle, each has its own cast of characters that behave similarly to our characters. Each will end in destruction of the present civilization and rebirth of a new world, with strong parallels to the previous one. I like to call this the Ouroboros Theory.

Hmmmm. I see the inspiration of ff7 with the mythology of Norse. But while the events according to Ragnarok is too have the events play out the same no matter what they do to try and change fate, sephiroth and cloud imo are they keys to changing this. In the Japanese version when cloud meets sephiroth at the edge of creation he mentions the 7 seconds until the end but then says " but we can still make it" "the future is up to you cloud". This was the unknown sephiroth, the supposed AC sephiroth. Meaning that these 2 are most likely going to have enough insight to change things. Sephiroth you stated is extremely dangerous because of his power and knowledge and I agree. Now that fate has been destroyed he can go all out to destroy the planets desires Then there's cloud with his premonitions of the future. 3 times he saw aerith praying to activate holy but he can't look too ahead based on what sephiroth stated "that which lies ahead doesn't exist". If cloud has enough knowledge and these premonitions in remake are explained, he can potentially change things. But we'll see

I do agree that their roles will be very VERY important to the events of change moving forward. The insight I think will become more and more apparent as we talk more about Sephiroth in the future. And.... I can't agree more with what you said in the last part of your comment. Lol this was a fun read. I think were on the same page on this one. Max went to level 4 with his theory, FF Peasant went to level 10 with his. This is some level 99 sh!t. Good job man. Never in my wildest dreams that FF7 would have the most tied together story out of all of the FF games. It blows my mind that these guys spent two decades weaving FF7 together to make a final game.

As I commented last video, your deconstruction & theories are extremely well done and show tons of potential meaning for the future games! Thanks and I can't wait for the next one! One thing that keeps bugging me: if Minerva is "alive" and active as the incorporation of the lifestream itself and will play a much bigger role now than in the previous games, then why does she need Aerith and any other Cetra to do anything? The lifestream can go (and/ or try to) defeat meteor by itself, the party and Aerith seem to not be needed to interfere at all. Do you have any thoughts on this? Cheers and have a good day!
@Sleepezi

I am hoping that the potential for the games meets them! I really do! Thank you for taking the time to comment as well! I think her presence only becomes known when its needed, until she needs to show herself then there isn't any reason to act through direct actions. (Which is why her meeting with Genesis is so important, this is the only time other than her boss fight that she appears.) Know that its by the will of Aerith that commanded the lifestream to help defend against the earth against meteor as well, so though her pieces are pawns, they still have a lot of power in their own right. they all are of use to her in one way or another. I think that as we are seeing the party has a lot of power to do things, the reason they haven't or are not, is because they haven't become aware of them yet. Jenova is a good example of this, her presence is very well known to the party, and because of the threat that she seemingly imposes the party actively fights against it. same as sephiroth. There are only 2 people that we know of that even have seen her, and that being said what she is, or what she is planning is completely unknown to both of them from what we have seen (so far. Genesis might be the only person that really is aware of her as a whole.) I hope that answered some of your question! Thank you for watching!

Just binge watched all three parts back to back. Couldn’t get enough of your theory videos. It honestly makes me love ff7 compilation so much more! I really hope that a lot of your theories will be realised in the next parts of FF7 remake. I am slightly concerned that a lot of the people who complained about the ending of FF7 remake and that the game wasn’t a like for like, will influence the next parts and return to a more like for like game. I hope that doesn’t happen as it would be a shame to have so many references to all the things you mentioned and nothing to come of it. Oh and by the way, your pronunciation of “Götterdämmerung” isn’t perfect but really not that bad. For a non-German speaker you did pretty well 😉 thanks for your hard work in putting this together.

This is a remarkable video series. The research, the insight, it’s mind-boggling. You may be building to this in a future video, so I apologize if you’re ahead of me, but for my part I think you’ve spot-on diagnosed what’s going to be revealed in the ur-story’s second act, but I disagree about how it will all end. I’m thinking specifically of Final Fantasy XIII’s own compilation, The Matrix Trilogy, and any time loop story when I speculate that the climax of any narrative revealing an endless cycle of events is the ultimate breaking of the cycle. FFVIIR, I suspect, is going to re-depict most of the story of the original game because 1) they won’t know they’re doing, 2) once they do know, they’ll be causing it anyway, and 3) all hope must be lost before the goal changes and freedom is gained. So in my mind, the final battle with not only Sephiroth, but the Planet’s wheels of fate itself, will end with Cloud and co saying “whatever happens to us, to people, to the planet, must be in our hands. Salvation or doom, we must be free.” Part One’s ending thematically references this, but I think the grander design will reinforce it.

well, now you got me researching wagners ring cycle and Götterdämmerung. Good shit, man. I haven't agreed with everything in this series of videos, but it's so well researched and so provocative that I've got to give you props. The concepts of Götterdämmerung (the depiction of a cycle) is such a fascinating influence in modern sci fi fantasy. Some of my favorites were Mass Effect (prior to 3) and an indie game that I highly recommend called Enderal. Now, unlike FF7, I don't think those were directly influenced by Götterdämmerung or Ragnarok, but I do believe that Ragnarok is the source of this trope that has permeated some of my favorite sci fi and fantasy. I think another example would be Wrinkle in Time? I haven't read it, but I think that's considered a classic example.

Hey Freedom! I appreciate the support for just the research that these videos have. I do know that not everything that I say will always stick to people, and sometimes I look back and think the same thing about those ideas. I do try my best to get some basis when I do these, and while all of them might not be concrete I don't really see any of these that way even after the video gets released. There is always something that I feel like I didn't talk about enough of I missed some info to bring, but thats just more reason to keep making these. In the future this entire series of videos could just be invalidated, but all that means is that there will be more to talk about! so as long as thats the case I will continue to make these to try and figure things out! I will look that up (Enderal) right now. I have not read a Wrinkle in Time either. but I do know that the idea that I am presenting in this video isn't at all foriegn to other media. but I will say that a direct influence might be the case either, but I do believe as you've said, is a base so to speak. Thank you for commenting once again! I know this ones an old one but I genuinely enjoy reading these and getting back to you guys, so thank you!

Just finished, amazing video. I always knew of the references to Norse mythology (Ragnarok, Midgar(d), etc) but I never really thought about how connected it actually was. Bravo on the deep dive and the connections. I get the feeling an event or person will create a eureka moment for Aerith that may result in her realizing that another party member actually needs to die (Cloud) and she will try to stop that from happening. Not sure the overall end will be the cycle repeating over and over (kind of a downer ending). I’m just curious to see how much the developers are willing to change things, how bold will they be

0. Hey Sleepezi, once again I have to congratulate you on another great video! I also would like to say again that I appreciate you going and responding to as many comments as you can; that takes a lot of time and effort from a person, so I think you doing that shows how happy you are to interact with this community! (Also, thanks for slightly mentioning me in the Summons portion since I was the one that asked about them. I'm glad I influenced something in this series). 1. I would never have thought of the whole idea of Ragnarok being a thing in FF7, nor that it would Minerva's goal! That does beg the question, why is it her goal? Is it to continue to trap Jenova? If so, then why repeat the cycle across time and space? If not, then why do this at all? 2. Aerith being a puppet to the Planet is just cool! Gives her and Cloud even more connections than before. 3. Not being interested in potential giant WEAPONS or developing highly dangerous weaponry doesn't seem like something Scarlet would do, she seems like the type to just do it because big, dangerous weapons just, turn her on, sort of? I don't know where I'm going with this, just Scarlet is a weird person. 4. You'd think that for being named after the All-Father and wielding his weapons, Odin would be more important in a series that references Norse mythology so much. Just thought that was funny. 5. I wonder what other mythologies could be drawn from to bolster the story? I know Sephiroth and Tifa's names come from the Jewish Kaballah as does Safer Sephiroth's design and name. There's also Genesis's name referencing the Book of Genesis from the Christian Bible (and maybe the Jewish Torah). 6. (Hot take, Jenovah is just slightly worse Lavos. (It makes sense since the idea for both were developed for FF7 but then used for Chrono Trigger and then FF7 afterwards)). 7. I've mentioned this before, but how would other games potentially affect FF7R's story? Apparently Dissidia is canon to every Final Fantasy game a part of that series, and apparently X and X-2 take place in the same universe long before VII (at least, it's hinted at by Nojima). Apparently Cloud appearing in Tactics is canon, but I don't know how much that would affect things. (I also don't how much any of the mobile games featuring FF7 characters will help either. Same with Kingdom Hearts or Smash. (Watch Smash of all things be the key to unlocking the secrets of Remake)). 8. Anyway, as usual, great video! I can't wait for Part 4 and beyond! Do you know how many videos you might make?

First of all! THANK YOU for the comment from before, yes, I was very much inspired to look into them for part 3 due to your comment. made me think of Alexander as well. So I really do appreciate the spark! And yes! this is very time consuming,but its worth it because we all get to talk about the stuff we care about! and you guys have made a very nice place, a community down in the comments here that really needs to be appreciated. you guys have been awsome! SO 1) as it seems to be developing, there is a balance of the world that needs to be struck in order to maintain the elements at play. one without the other is just as if not more dangerous to things than the two of them quelling each other so to speak. that isn't my hardened idea about it, but for the sake of discussion that is where my mind goes when I think about with its purpose. 2) I think characterizing her as chained in this way, just like Cloud, is a wonderful way to give Aerith more depth. The struggle that she seems to be going through in this part of remake alone is heartbreaking to me to watch. Someone who is so patient, and her life has been nothing but about this one connection to the planet, and it has also brought her such extreme misery. This all to me is just a massive serve up for her death honestly. It could potentially make the reason for her death that much more heartbreaking in my opinion! to have Clouds fate extenuated by her death, only to have him over come it in this way would be a FANTASTIC way to re characterize the meaning of her death, and make it fresh and even more impact full! 3) yes. yes she is. Lol I think her interest in making things destructive could be a lot of fun to watch in different parts of remake. 4) I found some irony in that as well. lol 5)We might be peering into that world sooner than you think! on all accounts. 6) never played chrono trigger, BUT I love its music. (Without removing my own head on this one I am a Chrono Cross fan.) 7) There are a ton of things that I have watched on this subject your bringing up. I would site them, but its not clear to me whether they are included really. BUT I would say that there is a lot of very VERY interesting dialogue in those cross over games. and I think that it seems very aware of Remake in certain places...X has a place it seems like more and more, whether that is music cues or even Shinra references. I think if there is any game I will be jumping to after this its X. And smash Ultimate will be validated immediately as being the key as soon as Nintendo fixes that online play...Lol Yes though, some sick aerials for Sora would be a broken mess and I want it in SSBU. 8) I appreciate you taking the time to post this! and I am very gratful for your comments again! its just awesome to see you guys so invested in all of this like I am! right now, the goal is to finish 4, and see what else needs to be made. my limit for video length is 2 hours, so if I still have more to say after that with everything I have gathered I will continue to do so! So the short answer is who knows!? Thank you, again, for watching!

@@Sleepezi 0. Your welcome! These videos are always a treat, so I'm happy that I was able to contribute in some way! 1. I see, then what would the purpose of the Cycle taking place in other timelines be for? What is the purpose of the other timelines? 2. And if they make you think you can save her (since Destiny s maybe broken, but not really) and/or delay it by having Cloud save her at the Water Alter, but then kill her later, would make it hurt even more! (I kind of don't wan this because Aerith is such a good character and has gone through so much trauma, I just want her to be happy). 3. She'll be interesting, definitely. 5. Oh boy! I'm ready! 6. Ironically, I've never played Chrono Cross, but love its music (Scars of Time is one of the best songs I've ever heard)! Chrono Trigger is great, and I would love if Square Enix incorporated some of its combat mechanics like combo attacks between characters! I think there's just something terrifying about some Space Parasite coming in and just eating your planet and taking on attributes of your species to propagate itself that made the teams use this idea. (The only reason I said Jenova was worse was because Lavos literally eats planets and then, in Cross, is going to consume all of time and space across the multiverse, which is just insane)! 7. I can't wait to see what you do with those cans of worms (if you decide to investigate, it is a lot of work already)! God, Sora would be busted in Smash! Imagine if they gave him Drive Forms and Keyblade Transformations! Ultimate Form while in Final Form, ugh, it's just disgusting thinking about it! And Kingdom Hearts music in Smash is just great! 8. No, thank you for making this content for us to enjoy and speculate about! Honestly, even if a video was 5 hours long, I'd watch it! That's just how good they are! I'll continue to watch this series as long as it goes! But take your time, burning yourself out is not a good thing, and we'll all still be here to continue watching your videos!

Nothing on the path will change in Remake, but the events to come will still happen as what the planet has planned, but because the Whispers aren't there anymore the Planet will do whatever it takes to make sure they are on Destiny's course. Even if it means making many detours along the way to eventually veer the party into the path it wants.

I have now watched all 3 parts of your theory vids and all I can say is that you've wowed me with the amount of in depth research and thought you've given to it. FFVIIR certainly won't be the first (or last) story that has been heavily influenced by mythology and I actually agree with you that the probability is high we will essentially be given an unchanged story line... BUT... I have a feeling we may also be given a choice in this. Edge of Creation Sephiroth has become the wild card, nobody can guess his motives, and his question: What are you going to do with it? implies a choice Cloud will have to make. Personally I think its more about saving the planet than saving Aerith, but that may actually be the choice... I think that will be the suckiest decision to make as very few will be able to stomach watching her die in HD. Whichever way this story unfolds Square is taking us on a helluva ride, encouraged us to speculate & debate, and simply enchanted us with memorable visuals, soundtracks & characters... that's a win in my books.

Sleepezi speaking of the Norns. Kingdom Hearts Dark Road revealed new characters with one of them being Urd. Along with Skuld from KH Union Cross they are two of the Norns. I wonder if they’re going for some multiverse type of thing as there are fate elements in KH ((Luxord). Anyways thanks for responding and keep up the awesome work!

I was going through the comments to see the discussion but then it became too much and I have to comment! First of all, wonderful series, very well done research!I have been looking for something like this ever since I finished going through the game (watching gameplays, not actually playing, but the sentiment is alike). There are a few things I would like to bring up. Concerning the yellow and purple flower. I am all into the points you brought up. There is one aspect of it I haven't seen though, and that regards the color themselves. I don't know if anyone noted before or if you considered it and discarded, but yellow and purple are opposite colors in the color spectrum, just like green is to red, for exemple. It could relate to the duality of two sides that are not separeted from each other, but are still in opposition. Same with that purple, being related to blue, could be a 'cold color' whereas yellow is a 'warm color'. It could address an aspect of Minerva and Aerith in regard to their relationship with humanity or emotions. Aerith's actions and decisions are weighed by the care she feels towards other peolple more than the overall system, I think. On the other hand, Minerva, as a proxy of the life/fate/planet, takes actions and decisions directed at the well being of the big picture, of the well being of the lifestream/fate. Another thing I came to think of after rewatching these videos is that rather than consider a dicotomy between "good" and "evil", think of it as "pure" and "impure", which is part of the foundation for doctrines and philosofies like the Taoism and Shintoism in China and Japan. This came up as a thought form a fanfiction I'm working on (and you are a lifesaver! Your videos helped lots!) This could bring some light on Wutai and its participation in things, how exactly I don't know. But there are interesting things to think of. Wutai is based on China and Japan, and their spiritual beliefs are oriented not towards good-evil relationship but balace between two opposing forces. They also have a respect for nature itself as sacred and as a representation/manifestation of divinity over the forms/identities of gods and such divinities. There is a thing in taoism as well that reflects the cycle of the Lifestream rather well, which is that the spirit of a person will return to a bigger spirit, kind of like a unity reattaching to the system. Lastly, in the second video, you mentioned another cetra with the image of Vincent and I have been dying ever since to know what you found out on it. Vincent is my favorite character in the series, so... I really want to know about his participation in this theory. It most likely will influence a lot in my decision for my fanfiction lol.

Wow, this is amazing, I'm really impressed. But I have a few things to confirm. So basically what you're saying is that the planet have been maintaining a system which governs the Evil and Good balancing them for thousands of years, and now in the remake since Cloud and his team killed the arbiter of fate, the system is broken, good and evil won't be balanced anymore and fate/destiny doesn't exist anymore. If that is the case I have a few questions: 1) Does that means this is the last time Sephiroth will appear? As if he is defeated in the remake he is defeated for good 2) Would Aerith still need to die? if she did wouldnt it just go according to the system of the planet and most likely lead to the same outcome as before but this time unchangeable? For example wouldn't It lead to AC again but Sephiroth would win as he controls his destiny now. So in this case saving Aerith will most likely break the cycle. 3) Considering this sephiroth is far stronger as he absorbed the arbiters of fate and the meteor, do you think he'll still use meteor? And do you think Cloud and his team will defeat him the same way they did in the OG? 4) After the changing destiny plot twist, and signs indicating this is a sequel, doesn't that mean the remake will go another route different from the OG in terms of storywise? While of course maintaining the same location and memorable scenes from the OG such as the gold saucer date, because the title remake seems to indicate "remaking the timeline". Honestly after everything you said, I think that Cloud is going to die, he is the link of Jenova and Sephiroth to the world, as long as he lives, Sephiroth will always return and as you said the planet must be cleansed of Jenova, so if anything I have a strong hunch that Cloud will die to make sure Sephiroth won't return and maybe alongside Aerith if her death is still necessary, or perhaps everyone lives(?), though unlikely. As for Genesis and the goddess I believe they will be mentioned and probably be a side quest boss, or maybe as you said they'll be a part of a big plot, but that would take a big chunk of storyline as alot of explaining is necessary, not that I mind. I've seen alot of people saying that Cloud got Zack's memories and feelings, and I gotta disagree with that, it was in the OG, he created his own memory to fill in the 5 years gap, he didn't get his memory or feelings just his persona of a soldier, therefore Cloud's feelings for Aerith is his own not Zack's, what Aerith realizes is that Cloud is not being himself, because as you know his mind is pretty broken and she want to spare him from losing her. Sorry for this long essay. If you're right this remake will be mindblowing and just like it's predecessor it will change gaming history. Sorry for this long essay. Thank you very much for your video series. I really appreciate your research. I definately can now "sleep easier" with getting the whole purpose of the remake. But still, even with all this knowledge, I can't say that I am happy about the direction this game took. Before the release, square told us that they would discard the compilation, but with this video series it is clear that the compilation is vital for the future. Which is a bad thing. Don't get me wrong, I loved the compilation (except the remake), still love crisis core and AC, but I was happy that they would discard it and create a new "canon" because let's be honest: from a story telling point of view, none of the sequels or prequels were as good as OG. They all relied on their events, all major plot points or every thing which are considered "master piece material" was in the original. None of the other installments are seen as true masterpieces. And that is where the problem lies. Like everyone I thought that the remake would create a new canon... using modern technology to make the great story of FF7 accessable again. Even for me it is a pain in the ass to replay the OG. But with this information, I know I will never experience the concepts of FF7 again... it is impossible now to get the same beats in the second installment. To me it would have been better, if they just first told the original story - not to complicate things. Because lets be honest, no one would dig into this deep to just "discover" the masterpiece. It is important to keep a piece of art rather simple than make it a complex structure.. like fight club for example, it should have been something that blows people's mind within a single installment, without cracking a fucking da vinci code. You would also agree that not even big FF7 fans are aware of all these hidden details. Of course it is really cool, but honestly, they could have expanded the remake after FIRST recreating the original. With this remake, very few newcomers are going to really enjoy it. No one is going to look as deep as you (or your viewers) into it. Overall this is bad for commercial success and praise of the game. To me, they screwed up. Even if all of this makes somehow sense and it is time repeating itself - does it make it into a good game? A good story? I strongly doubt it. But still - thanks for your effort. As said, i definately can "sleep easier" now understanding the mess better ;-)

I totally get it, I completely understand that the package given is not what people were wanting / expecting. For that Square really dropped things, and I can only say that is a disservice to their fans who were told that is what it would be. I also understand that painting a newer story that is dethatched from the Compilation canon would have been a nice departure for this series to take, but there are also those who have played or watched the compilation who have long awaited answers to some outstanding questions that we have never gotten answers to. So for me personally I think Remake is set up well to do just that. and from my own point of view I dont see any better way of doing that other than to tell the story of the original story and use that story to highlight the compilation through its retold story. Its a heavy balancing act, and there are only a couple of examples in which this ever gets exacuted to a satisfactory degree: But I can understand that choice. I wasnt even aware of any of this before I began to delve into the fandom. So as far as it being a good story? Well thought through? and explains everything? We will just have to see. I would say I feel more at ease now than I did at the beginning. That all being said: This game fell on its face when servicing the people it was originally marketed to, and for that I have no disagreements. Thank you for posting, even though you do not like Remake, It is a totally understandable point of view, and thank you for doing so respectfully. And thank you for watching!

@@Sleepezi Of course I watched it bro I watched all 5 parts. And everyone appreciates your hardwork you put into this series, weather the ones who liked or disliked the remake. And also one reason I liked your video series because I actually LOVE the compilation and you made it clearer to me. I only hate the remake ^^ if only this toxic community could respect this opinion.. I just wished they could have made more games to the compilation (like an extra sequel to what happened after DOC/Genesis) and also remade the original story... I would be totally fine with that because they could easily make a dedicated game to sum up the compilation and create an extra game to grab the themes of the perpetual repeating 2000 year cycle and destiny & so on. Then the remake could be a polished accessable version for newcomers to the compilation. But at this point, there is no turning back for square I guess. And of course I subscribed to your channel. I hope to see more from you :-)

Love your really in-depth theories. It's some galaxy brain stuff. You know I always had a feeling FF7 had some kind Norse mythology connection. Just the names Midgar and Nibelhiem really stood out years after beating the original back in the day. Now it makes a lot more sense. I wonder if there's any significance of Fenrir in Advent Children?

Btw, even with time-cycle, I still believe that remake ending will be completely different. I mean, what if the point of all this defying fate fuckery is to actually break the cycle?

I didn't even make that connection! lol thats super awesome! I don't think parts of the ending will be different. But rather that the way we arrive there with a different context will be what makes Remake interesting... I think that destiny has yet to break, and that in order to do that its going to be a bigger challenge than just one boss at the end of a first part of a massive expansion of FF7's franchise. Thank you for commenting! and thank you very much for watching!

love how you pronounce "Götterdämmerung" c: just a small correction: while Götterdämmerung means Twilight of the Gods, Ragnarök does not. It's a mistranslation and actually means "Fate of the Gods", but the term Götterdämmerung was popularised by Richard Wagner's opera. Though I'm not sure if the developers were aware of this, as Twilight of the Gods/Götterdämmerung is the universally known translation.

For what its worth regarding your Alexander speculation, there are 2 factors which connect the summon and the Cetra. You find the materia for Alexander in the Great Glacier, not far from the Forgotten City, and its damage type is Holy magic. You might have something with that thought.
@Rhomagus
@Rhomagus 4 жыл бұрын
31:56 Alexander is a summon in the Remake universe. There's a guy in Wall Market that is trying to trade Bahamut materias for an Alexander materia. He REALLY wants it and the woman he is accosting is having none of it. Alexander in VII is oddly similar to a weapon himself. Quite possibly a Cetra version of a Proud Clod.

First off: that is so awesome that that is the case. I would agree, that the function of Alexander does seem to be a perfect representation of that kind of mentality that the WEAPON carry. Concept of time repeating itself was in the OG, yet no Ody ever comments on it. In the Cosmo canyon observatory it very clearly shows someone dying, becoming a part of the lifestream, and then being reborn on the opposite side of Gaia. Literally a repetitive cycle
