What a wonderful video! Recently I finished the HW story and I've been trying to remember the story of ARR and HW as if they were a dream from long ago... Which is strange, considering I 'm loving this game first for the story, then the gameplay; somehow though, it would seem I remember the gameplay more. Thank you for the very helpful video! I got into FF14 recently and I was told to play through ARR and the patch quests as required reading, but after slogging through the base game made me almost wanna quit I’m story skipping the patch quests to save my sanity, since they’re considered to be even sloggier than the base game and I’ve been seeing glimpses of the quality HW and onwards promises in stuff like the lvl50 ARR dungeons. You’re a lifesaver!

IMO the ARR MSQ is okay at best. Not because of bad dialouge or smth but the pacing is just so much filler stuff. Smth good happens --> 3h of boring fetch quests --> a cool moment happens --> 3h of boring shit. The patch quests get good when you hit 2.4 ig? The whole Shiva ice stuff. Currently in Heavensward and its great. So if you read this and are a new player, stick to it. Beat ARR and play Heavensward because it gets really good.
