You have to meet Panam to get Helman. I don't *think* his part of the story is avoidable. Also, I actually like the Tower Ending a lot? Not as much as Star, but it's still pretty good. Reason being? The path V was on only gonna end one way. A life of difficulty and loss ending in an early grave. Which is *litterally* how all the 'greats' went. None of them managed to grasp happiness or get a happy ending. They didn't even manage to meaningfully change the state of the world. And the same was true of V. There is no ending where he changes the status quo. At best He kicks arasaka when they are down in Don't Fear the Reaper, but its not like the status quo of the super rich exploiting the poor has changed at all. Maybe Yorinobu had a plan for that- he was actually a rebel of sorts- but it's not like he'll get a chance to execute whatever plan he's got if you are tearing the company down. I suppose I never really bought into the hype of "die a legend". I'd rather fight the battle I have to fight, lay down my sword, and live peacefully, Dying as an old man well thought of by those I cared for. I'll admit to being more than a little miffed with the Aldecado's though. "we remember the people who help us" apparently comes with an experation date. I expected Panam and the other to move on with their lives- it's just how life goes- but basically telling you "shove off and never contact us again", considering all the stuff you helped them with? It's more than a little rude. Especially considering who it comes from.

I'm still convinced that sending Songbird to the moon and either leaving with Panam, or Taking that last gig from Mr Blue Eyes is the best endings. Reed dies, freeing him from the BS he's in once and for all. So Mi gets a cure and is in "better" company and free from the NUSA. V lives their life the way they want and (potentially) returns for a glorious mission, or a peaceful life out in the wilds.
@RexZShadow2 ай бұрын
My only issue with sending Songbird to the moon is that the cost in what likely hundreds of civilian life to get her there just simply not worth it. Not just in sense it not worth it in term of how many lives are lost in that route but I'm be honest she doesn't deserve it. She has backstab every single step of the way, she lied and continued to lie until the very end. I'm honestly kinda surprised how many people stand with Songbird who has constantly lied and backstab you the entire DLC over Reed who actually never betray you and stand with you until the very end all because he is NUSA.
@rxkingd2 ай бұрын
@RexZShadow @RexZShadow Reed was too much of a coward to disobey orders even when he knew he was in the wrong. Stayed loyal to a very much real fault. He made himself believe that he was in the right against all better judgements. Songbird had to lie, to everyone just so she could get her freedom. She couldn't trust anyone because all she knew were lies. Lies from close friends like Reed. I'd choose Songbird over Reed every time, despite the cost because it wasn't songbird who gave the order to kill all those civilians. It was Myers. And Reed stood there at her side without protest to the methods. That speaks volumes.

I know a lot of people are gonna disagree with me, but I think King of Cups is the best ending. Sure, it´s pretty tragic and not the happiest one, but when it comes to writting and actual storytelling it´s amazing. And it fits to the cruel Cyberpunk world perfectly. Also siding with Reed was more interesting in my opinion. You had a sick-ass boss fight with Hansen, you fight with f***ing MaxTac, there is a unique and memorable stealth part (I know a lot of people hate it, because it´s scary as hell, but I really loved it) and the game actually tells you something about Songbird´s past.

What happens when you take Witcher3: Heart of Stone, translate it into Cyberpunk 2077, add spy thriller to it, then spruce it up really, really well? Well, you get Phantom Liberty. The thing I like best is how this time, there are finally a degree symmetry between the endings: in HoS, helping Olgierd is close to a no-brainer. But in PL, helping Songbird is not the "clearly best". Every ending (and the routes lead to them) has at least some justification, be it narrative-wise, gameplay-wise, or both. Furthermore, this (rough) symmetry also exist between Songbird and Reed: both of them are capable, and have some admirable traits (Reed is intensely loyal, Songbird is very determined), yet, both have their respective "demonic backdoors" that twist said traits for the worse, if not worst: Reed is loyal, principled... in supporting the NUSA regime, which allows NUSA (and Myers, as its current head) to override his opinions whenever they want, to whichever direction they want. This is most prominently displayed in the spaceport quest, in which he literally flip-flops on how to deal with Songbird (and you can call him out on it during the final showdown) because Madam Prez is here. Songbird, on the other hand, will stop at nothing in her quest towards freedom and life... even if it means backstabing Hansen, wipe the civilians in the stadium, and outright con V with the promise of cure, since the Blackwall has put her life on a timer. TLDR, both of them a "good" in some sense, and the tragedy is that that don't really matter. Only one of them gets what they want --- at best, and that's probably not even what they actually needed. And that choice ultimately falls on you. The DLC isn't kidding when it worded the big choice as "Betray XX" instead of "Support XX": You are going to stomp one of them in the face, at least. (Cough, sword ending, cough) I was a bit spoiled before I started the PL storyline. And according to what I learned, I predicted that my rather pragmatic version of V is going for the sword ending, but Reed flip-floping ended up being the last straw. Songbird have conned my V, but at least that's entirely her own decision. Reed, however, can renege on our deals the moment Myers (or FIA) says so, even if Reed himself once offered it genuinely. My V launched Songbird to Luna not as a vote for Song, but as a vote against Reed. I know my V will try to wash his hand of the sitch once he learned that the cure is a bust, but I did not expect that without any foreknowledge, "launch bird so NUSA chases her instead of V" looks much cleaner than "yield bird and wish for the good grace of NUSA, and it actually dilivering". All in all, a wonderful DLC with a story that give you thrills during it and a few things to ponder on afterwards. If GOTY allowed DLCs in 2023, I believe PL has a solid chance at getting it.

@ГригорийКудряшов-у3л2 ай бұрын
Agreed. I've noticed that sometimes during dialogues you don't have much choice other than to be a good boy\girl, helping everyone in need, even at V's expense. However, sometimes V can be a really scary doing what's best for them. So it seems closer to V's character to help Songbird till her betrayal and then give her to Reedб finally doing what's best for them, not others.
@albertosusy16492 ай бұрын
@@ГригорийКудряшов-у3л Yes, exactly. CDPR REALLY wants you to think that the save Somi ending is the good ending, but IMO its not the ending V would do. If you do the help her ending, you learn that Myers is really a bitch, and doesnt care at all about Somi, potentially to the extent of killing her. But V doesnt know that yet, and he will never know that if you do the other ending. It just makes more sense to me that V would trust Reed more, considering Reed (possibly never to this point) lied to V, always being straight with him and his intentions. Somi on the other hand lied literally to everyone, betrayed pretty much everyone, and she lies even if V chooses to help her - she admits it in the train to the rocket. Canon ending is helping Reed, and killing Somi imo. Reed breaks from his principles, allowing him to live a new life, and Somi becomes free of everything. :D

A lot of what Johnny says both in cyberpunk canon and in the game speaks to what Night City becomes in the Tower ending. That it’s the antithesis to everything he wanted to achieve, wanted for NC and for humanity. And honestly, So Mi is very much like Johnny, although she just wants to save herself, free herself from being ground into dust by Militech/the NUSA. To quote the man himself: „I despise corps. I’ve seen what they do to people-what they’ve done to the world. They take and take, leaving nothing behind but rot and decay.“ „You let them dictate your life, and you’re already dead. Freedom’s not something they hand you-it’s something you take.“ „I know I’ve screwed up. Hurt people. But at least I’m not sitting on my hands while the world burns. At least I’m doing something.“ And Reed? He sees the NUSA take, and take, take…and he sits on his hands. He willingly lets them dictate his life out of his sense of loyalty they do not return in the slightest. He is the true tragedy in my book, not So Mi. She still has options when we start Phantom Liberty, depending on us. A possible future. Reed tho? Reed is stagnant. He is slowly, very slowly inching towards an early grave, inevitably. He is very much like V in that regard, but by choice. Like Johnny says. Either V does him in now…or he‘ll hang himself sometime down the line.

For me to get Phantom liberty start is best when i do ghost town first and go that route since new ending you can skip panam and nomads questline it feels more natural then going automatic love line first.

I can’t wait for you to cover the next Cyberpunk project, even if V’s story is not the forefront.

So much obvious foreshadowing of alex's fate, conversation of where she wants to retire, one last dance

Still think the NUSA NPC ending is the worst ending. The ony ending even worse is if you do yourself in on the rooftop. OTOH, King of Cups is by far the best ending.

It was about 2am for me too when the game instantly morphed into a horror survival game 😭 never wanna deal with Cerberus again. Even if the blackwall weapons were kinda cool.

I like to think that it was the manipulations with relic inside vdbs crypt allowed Songbird to connect to it, or maybe she somehow spotted it during said manipulations

As to why this only starts after we met the Voodoo boys: I would guess that So Mi wouldn't know about us and our condition until after we had come into contact with the Blackwall
