I think the reason why the prequels are different from most of the main movies is because the prequel movies like first class, apocalypse, days of future past, and dark phoenix are set in the new timeline. And Days of future past is what connects the new past and same present. I’m not entirely sure though.

I think because Days of Future Past is set in 2023, it "fixes" the timeline so that all the movies that take place between 1973 and 2023 may or may not've happened. So the only ones that definitively happened are First Class, Days of Future Past and Logan
