I agree with you on season 3. When they say that Torchwood is adult oriented, this is what I expect it to be, not the sex stories. It is really difficult to watch, but it is brilliantly adult themed in the moral question it asks..

I started watching torchwood when I was 11. Country side is one of my favourite episodes of any doctor who media I’ve ever seen. I know it’s dramatic to say but it was the first time I saw one of those ‘the real monsters were humans’ stories and it changed how I saw the world.

i think children of earth might be the best thing to come out of the dr who universe since it's revival, i haven't measured it up against my other favourite stories but that's how im feeling

Guys I’m not even joking they made a new season in 2027 they didn’t have a name for it like “Children of Earth” or “Miracle Day,” instead they called it Season 5 (or Series 5 I can’t remember but same thing). It followed on from the Big Finish “The Story Continues” stories and it was brought back because when RTD came back he made the Doctor Who universe a thing like the MCU and he called it the Whoniverse he got it from the fans it’s awesome!!! Side note it wasn’t RTD who brought this back it was Jed Mercurio. Season 5 was rumoured to be called “Earthbound” but I think that was like a code name like how they codenamed the Doctor Who 2005 reboot “Torchwood” so people wouldn’t know it was coming back. It featured Eve Myles back as Gwen Cooper as the only member of the original cast and only one new recurring character called Terry Smith (I don’t know who he was played by and I can’t find him online I don’t think he’s really about in the acting scene yet) I don’t think they ever said how old he was but he looked about 40 same kind of age as Captain Jack from 2005 (in terms of looks). He was an alien who was stranded on Earth IN CARDIFF and the show’s formula very much went back to the style of Season 1 and 2 (contained weekly episodes). I don’t reaaaaally want to spoil it but Gwen basically played a side character role and would find herself getting brought along on Terry’s adventures almost from a sense of duty as she had to balance her life raising her teenage daughter but she sort of felt like a maternal figure for Terry. It was really awesome to see it come back but I didn’t get to see the end of Season 6 :((((((

Another fun little part of the episode Adam was adding him into the intro for the ep. It was enough for me to make a double take and think "huh did i miss an episode or something?" during my first binge watch of torchwood. as always man I'm loving the content

Yes Children of Earth Is my favourite season… however, I will say I did really enjoy Miracle Day. The steaks felt huge and getting to see somewhat the global impact socially, economically, morally over a longer period of time.

Again some really interesting points! And I actually tended to agree with you on most of them this time ;) 😂. I would maybe say I wanted more of a shoutout to the fairy episode (forget its name), the episode with the plane that arrived (out of time?) and the episode with the rift stealing people cause that shit SCARRED me 🤣 and as an edgy teen I loved the entirety of the show but can definitely agree on some of the rougher edges you highlighted here. RIP Toshiko she deserves so much better 🥺

As Big Finish listener, who regularly purchase Torchwood monthly range, i often thought some of it can do better episode then actual series. In reverse, some of TV can be a decent audio drama, without all of this lame effects of aliens. Probably I can't judge on it because i really love this show 😅

Being honest countrycyde (spelt correctly like homicyde) is absolutely amazing but scary like really scary when the guy says it made me happy I literally shivered back in the day cuz I watched this when I was like 10 maybe 11 and I was home on my own I was traumatised to say less. Imo Children of Earth is the best thing Doctor Who has ever done, and by far the best thing to come from the modern series. A couple of classic seasons come close to Children of Earth for me (S6, 8, 9, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26)

Fun fact; stuff from series 4 does not get resolved in Big Finish. There’s a reference made to the miracle but the families and Rex… nope 😂 love the Big Finish Torchwood stuff though. It’s great. I don’t mind Torchwood? I like 3 episodes in series 1… and don’t like the rest. Rly like series 2 and 3. I don’t mind series 4? It’s super flawed and drags on for way too long but it’s still fun mostly

Torchwood Children of Earth is one of THE best series that is in the Doctor who universe. I realise that me saying that Miracle Day is almost as good as Children of Earth will have a lot of controversy but that’s my opinion.

I think Miracle Day had a solid story in its core. I suspect it started out as a five episode story like S3 but was doubled at the last minute.
