As a bladesmith, it looks like a dream machine. Only concern I have, is the fact that the base rises up rather than the top coming down. Might be hard to get the proper angle on the iron when the base is moving. Other than that, awesome.

Nicely put together. I'm looking at a complete rebuild of the guides for the carriage on my press. Too much slop and they continually need re-adjustment.

I’m interested in your plans, will there be a materials cost to?
@FormulaJake4 жыл бұрын
Plans are in progress! Rough material cost is between $1500 and $2000, depending on motor, pump, steel cost, etc. Once everything is finalized, a bill of materials will be included, as well as links to purchase each component 👍🏼

What the estimated build cost, and does the electric motor have to be 240v or 120v?
@FormulaJake2 жыл бұрын
Build cost ranges anywhere from $1500 to $3000, depending on motor, steel, etc. Ours was under $1500 because we used scrapyard steel and got a great deal on our motor. For 5hp, it will be easiest to find a 240V motor. If you don't need as much horsepower, it's possible to use 120V, but realistically the entire system will have to be downsized.

Hell yeah! I'm on Formula SAE for my senior design, and I've been able to spend some time in the machine shop. But I'd love to check it out in the future 👍🏼
