Lingyi had that anticipated look on his face, he even got up to greet Shiyi, who he thought was entering. Lingyi doesn't get up to greet anyone entering his study so, you can imagine his disappointment as he barely had it in him to play nice. Shiyi should have walked in minutes after with food as well. Would be interesting to see how he would have handled that one. Lingyi has no shame where his wife is concerned. Probably requested Lianfang to leave by using some excuse he had to discuss things with Shiyi. I would be rolling on the floor laughing 🤣

Poor Lingyi he thought it was Shiyi coming to see him. His smile left his face quick when he laid eyes on the concubine from hell. Lianfang is so obsessed with him but she doesn't know the anything about him. She thinks he's self absorbed just like her. He just can't escape her. GM needs to stay out of his love life. She knows her son doesn't like her but she's still trying to force a relationship with them. GM let me give you a hint "he hates her" give it a rest. He definitely has a different reaction when he finds out that Shiyi is there.. lol He's so happy to see her. He's not going to let her off that easily. The man has some sweet moves.

@@Skydancer263 true...the best part is the fact that he's the total opposite of his mother. She's all about status especially when it comes to legitimate and illegitimate births. She looks down on Shiyi because she's a concubine's daughter...and gives the highest respect to Lianfang because she's a legitimate daughter. Lingyi looks at the character. He loves Shiyi despite the fact that she's illegitimate...he loves her because of her character....He's never shown any interest in Lianfang. He sees her true character....and he avoids her like the plague. His mother is the only one fooled by her innocent act.

@@shontelagrone8713yeah.. this is seen in how he treats his sons as well..for him there is no difference between Zhun and Yu..yet she and Wen are the ones who always want to keep them separately..and see her replies!!..she is letting the lives of refugees crumble at the cost of his reputation/future..couldn't she give a better/no suggestion instead!! Y did she actually go to his room?to search for that similar fabric and embroidery?

@@tulsi3549 Unfortunately the GM as the matriarch sets the tone for how the family views social etiquette. She feels as though she can control their thoughts and feelings because she is the matriarch....she gave Lianfang the responsibility and power of the matron...which lead their servants to treat Shiyi in a disrespectful manner....She separated Zhun/Yu because of their social status...and expected Lingyi/Shiyi to follow suit. Lingyi/Shiyi were different...they viewed the boys as equals/tried hard to nurture their relationship. The GM caused a lot of drama within the Xu family because of her archaic beliefs.
