Hi.A really brilliant video, enjoyed all 4 episodes.I grew up in Chester and went to Abbey Gate School on Victoria Road (now student accommodation) so know the area really well.I had many talks at school about the old Northgate Station and often we would go to the North gate Arena for sports and I do recall a teacher showing us the wall in the lower car park that was a part of the old Northgate Station and pointed out the original wall on Victoria Road across the road from the Northgate Arena and said buses queued up when he was younger, and during our school years I recall the B&Q opening and we could see from Abbey Gate School upstairs the cutting below of the Holyhead line.Really good piece of historical investigation.Next time I am in Chester I will look at the landmarks.Thank you

Hi Asad, thank you for your kind comments and I'm glad it stirred up some good memories. It's a vastly changed area but the clues are still there. Part 5 will be out later in the year.

Another good film and excellent detective work. You'd need a JCB to access a lot of the trackbed. Cab ride at the start brought back memories of road learning in 47s and remembering not to try and drink coffee on junctions unless you wanted to wear it.

Thanks. Most of the area with the tree's is a nature reserve now so means I'm not going to scratch myself to bits in there. I think the state of the track had a lot to do with the ride in the vid. My memory of 47 cabs is of all of the cupboards rattling open.

Born in Dec 64. My mum used to take me in my pram from Northgate station to Blacon Station to meet her friend, and back again.. Not that I can remember anything off that time.

A station at Blacon would be really useful today wouldn't it?

Great map work on the NLS and today. Did not realise the Northgate yards were so big.

Thanks for your kind comments Simon. The yards extended even further than you can see today. Must have been quite a busy area at one time.

There was a car dealership called James Edwards just a short way along Victoria Road and I remember taking our bikes to play on the waste ground at the back of the Northgate Leisure centre and where those new flats are.
@PASTFINDERexploring2 жыл бұрын
The waste ground must have been the former railway land.

The land just behind those buses was a Crosville depot and there headquarters..........................

Thanks Steve. That would be why all the buses are parked up there in the picture.
